After the Internet age began I'm surprised they're still in business.

That's very strange. I thought that was the entire point of Play boy magazines.

Very few, if any, read the magazine for its articles, so I think this is a bad move, especially considering that free nudity is just a click away. Their niche was pretty, naked women, but without nudity, they've joined the ranks of Maxim, FHM, Stuff (are they even still around?) and even the bodybuilding magazines, who will offer the same thing. I think this is a step backwards for Playboy.

Back in the late 90's, I used to collect the pictorials. I thought they were beautifully done and tasteful. Since they stopped printing those, I stopped even looking for the magazine.

Anyone who has actully seen a Playboy in the last 10 years knows that the models are so heavily touched up that they don't even look normal anymore. At least the stigma surrouning Playboy as a Spank rag will be somehwat deminished allowing for readership to "come out of the bathroom" and be more ligitamate.

It still seems odd though. In a world where the Game Of Thrones is so popular, people still turn up their nose at the idea naked women?

I've been seeing the Maxim comparison a lot and I really don't think that's a fair comparison at all. Rather than moving away from "being trendsetters for a 'cool' 'hip' lifestyle", I think this is an attempt to move back towards that goal. Look at Hef's old television show. (The Playboy Club, not the reality show.) They seemed to be able to convey the concept pretty well without a single nekkid person.

I'm not surprised they're moving away from nudie pictures. Perhaps they will become more like Maxim.

I used to work in a jail, and I wonder how much of the money magazines like Maxim make because of the correctional system. You usually can't have full nudity in a jail mag, so without the internet they're stuck with partially clothed ladies to look at. Magazines are incredibly popular in jail/prisons, so maybe Playboy is reevaluating their market?

Who even really reads magazines anymore, anyway??

It doesn't seem like anything new the last time I looked at one it was mostly ads anyway, you had to get Hustler or something else to actually get good images of naked ladies.

If you were ever reading Playboy I don't think you were using it right ha.

They were also many Americans' first exposure to the novels of Ian Flemming, whose new novels they used to run in installments.

Funny that you mentioned this because when I was in the army soldiers could not have playboy but they could have maxim around, which was very popular among the guys.

Its possible that playboy is reevaluating their market stance within public work areas.
