I do see the compromise, the large robot has what? 14 points of articulation, where the G1 Bomb-Burst shell had 2 points. Sadly the inner robot went from 7 points of articulation to 4.

I like the idea of figures made all of 5mm ports and pegs that break apart.

See, as an alternative to ball joints, you can make some articulation in a 3 inch tall figure just be using 5mm pegs and holes. We saw it in the Micronauts Giant Acroyear figures. The elbows, knees, neck and waist were all 5mm pegs, the hands were 5mm holes, the legs had 5mm pegs in the sides. These figures had 10 points of articulation without any ball joints in 1976, all 5mm pegs!

Looking at D-Throne, it looks like you could at least copy the knees and waist articulation right off the Micronauts figures. Arms and head might be tricky considering the design. But that's 3 extra parts for 3 more points of articulation. Taking him back up to 7 points of articulation, and adding 5mm ports, which means it's an improvement over the G1 toy.

Just thinking... why not have the Jetstrike larger robot and use the TFC Toys Screamer for his small robot? He's a small, articulated, 5mm peg compatible G1 Starscream colored looking robot who turns into a weapon.

I'll still take the not-Fitor and put him in my not- Gobots collection.

Not very keen on the BMOG concept, personally, and the guns as arms is a bit off-putting.

In silhouette can see how it apes the main figure nicely, though.

I like it just fine, but considering it's the ACCESSORY, not the main figure, I'm still waiting to see the main dish! :D

I'd be a little more interested in these if they worked like the old Pretenders, but these new figs don't look like they're meant to store anything inside.... maybe a later edition could do that????

Anyway, keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing a prototype!!!

I like the idea, but since the drones have very limited articulation then I might only pick up a few favorites and not do the whole set. I understand that compromises have to be made when putting together figures like this, especially given the nature of the source material, so I will say this, Good Effort PWTT but these are not the the pretenders I am looking for. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing your future projects.

It doesnt look like the gun handles are 90 degrees, but more of a 60/120 degrees. Will Transformers be able to hold the rifles Straight?!

Found their website and educated myself... these guys (and gal) get my respect way more than what Hasbro is doing. I will definitely be following PWTToo on Facebook, and I look forward to seeing (and possibly purchasing) all that they come up with. I know they want to stay distant from the TransFormers IP and not really do figures that morph (or use already established characters), but here’s hoping we get things inspired by Beast Wars, like maybe several different VOK aliens and VOK spaceships ala the Independence Day toy line :)  Or creating their own characters for Botanica's sentient plant crew (since that was never developed and Hasbro has no interest in doing plant-based TransFormers)... just some thoughts

As for these drones, I like them... might buy a few and repaint them to be Aero Drones (Sonic Attack Jets) for Jetstorm

Play With This Too Ironstrike (not Masterforce Metalhawk)

    Update 1/16/2015

    --

Hinted at in several interviews, Play With This Too revealed today the first sketch of Ironstrike.

This figure looks like a heavy remold of Astroblast and really catches the eye as a great update on Masterforce Metalhawk.

Interesting that they are making this guy leader of the "Strikers", with Jetstrike (aka Starscram) and Flarestrike (aka Sunstorm).

For reference, the G1 Metalhawk toy:

That's a joke. When Rik Alvarez was interviewed on RetroRobotRadio he talked about the characters he had in development. He couldn't name them, but he said one was a heavy remold of Astroblast that might be called Steel Cock. Obviously a play on the name Metal Hawk.

Of course if I was writing his bio, I'd say Iron Cock was his nickname back on college, but thankfully Simon Furman is writing the bios and not me!

Official name is Ironstrike. First files should be wrapped up this week then off to the printers. So prototypes are coming soon!

This is a genre that has Hardbone and Erector. Metal Penis isn't too far off believable.

Erector is a construction crane - erect as in "to erect a building". Get your mind out of the gutter. ;-)

Hm, I'd prefer more arm blade IDW style, but it does look quite cool.

I imagine Christopher Dahlberg will do a better job on the face sculpture than TFCC.

Kaiju Kaos teams up with Play With This Too!

Looks like we are getting a tabletop game out of Play With This Too and Kaiju Kaos. Plus they are giving away the character of Astroblast free for download to play in the game.

We also get out first look at Astroblast's character and the name of the line from Play With This Too. It's called The Lost Protectors line!

So from what I have seen, the Kaiju Kaos game is a tabletop game where you can download and print, or purchase printed expansion characters. They released some BMOG characters for this game a while back.

PS - I imagine until the actual toy for Astroblast comes out you can substitute any red Autobot Pretender with a whip in his place on the tabletop.
