What happened to the drones? Without the drones, I really can't see a reason to buy them. :(

It was mentioned in the Boneyard thread. Tech drones have been redesigned, will be more like Arms Microns... and will probably be stretch goals in the Kickstarter.

Oh, sorry I didn't dive into the boneyard thread. I thought they would announce them along with the main figures like they did before. Thanks for letting me know though. :)

Maybe. Maybe not. Despite the Kickstarter failing, there was quite a bit pledged for those first five (Blood/Dauros/Skeletor/Hordak/other guy). I think the problem was that most people were interested in some combination of those five, one in the middle (Muscules), and two toward the end (Team Jet and Team Dino.)

...which is a smarter way of doing things. Start with a reasonable number and then build from there. (I was more interested in the Masterforce analogues, so I'm disappointed with this direction. I have to admit it makes some amount of sense, but it cuts my interest in half.)

They might end up stretch goals. If they don't end up happening, then...that cuts my interest in half again.

I'm not nearly as interested in the Boneyard sample as I was the Desolatur sample. The Jetstrike render looks interesting, but the wings just look tacked on. I assume they are removable, but I remember liking the look better in the head-on art for the Kickstarter. Also, those wings look too big, attached too far up, or both.

...I just looked at the art in the Kickstarter. Although the fists and boots still have the spikes, the gauntlets have been sloped in the opposite directions and the shoulders are much smaller (and lacking the spikes). The helmet still has the spikes, so the shoulders don't fit as well visually. And it looks like the shape might have changed slightly on the wings, and the lack of shoulder spikes (to partly block the view) contributes to the impression that they are too big and too high.

ETA: Ninja'd on the Tech Drones.

I hope the wings sit a little lower on the back like in the original art.

I am truly stunned there is any kind of market for this Pretenders shit, they were almost the nadir of the entire franchise - "let's stuff crappy little bad looking robots in crappy giant human/monsters!"

Like to this day I'd love to get medieval on the muppets who thought that was a good direction to take things. Talk about throwing shit against the wall.

I loVe updated toys. The world changes a lot in 30 years, I wonder if there's any chance of a repaint into something looks slightly more represntative of the 'average' color of an earthling, as opposed to the historic monochromatic representations we see.
I would ask that question lightly to anyone making people representations.

Well, since you only see the head, you could change the race, gender or species of the character with just a head swap. No reason we cannot get options, especially for the recolors.

I think a lot of the weird stuff in TF from the later years was them trying to cash in on other toy crazes. He-Man and other large figure lines are probably to blame of these. Small action figures gave us Action Masters, Micro Machines gave us Micromasters, Hot wheels gave us the G2 GoBots.

According to Twitter, Jetstrike went off to the printer.

Also Get Right Robot is doing the painting.

Anyone else think with a different helmet, weapons and paint job, you could get a serious Ace McCloud out of this figure?

Big news from PWWtoo. They have offered a big update to their design. One complaint was the lack of an abdomen crunch in their design , since it simply had a swivel waist.... well, here you go! Now it has a crunch and swivel!

The latest episode of Moonbase 2 talked about Jetstrike. They offered the usual comments found in the Transformers fandom. They complained one head was too slavish to G1, then they compained the other head was not G1 enough.

They talk about Play With This Too about 57 minutes into the show.

10 figures? I'm guessing we will see Boneyard, Wrecktifier and Wastlander (as well as one other we have not seen?), Jetstrike and probably Cloudstrike and faststrike, and maybe one other deco... plus maybe full sets of unpainted figures for customizers?
