But do you really think they would have made the goal even if they had awesome presentation?

Yes, yes I do. If they came out of the gates with that 100% yes I think they could of. After the first failed Kickstarter they had an uphill battle but I still think it could have worked though it would have been harder.

If all they had done differently in the first Kickstarter was to have the prototype ready from the start I think it would have been funded. They came very close and the biggest complaint everyone has was that they didn't have a prototype until the last few days.

Now if they had had prototypes of all the variants they were selling completed and painted and photographed well? Shit would have gone through with flying colors.

MAYBE if they had all the extra bits they have talked about possibly adding to show as well, I could see that, but just the repaints of these two figures - I just don't see it.

    I guess we'll never know.

They had $71,625/$80,000 during the first Kickstarter. They didn't have a finished prototype until the last few days. Yeah they had a big bump (almost $10k) on the last day but they also had about that much in money lost during the last few days as well as people backed out at the last minute.

So yeah, I really believe if they had that proto to show on day 1 instead of just a bunch of artwork they would have made their goal easy. But they didn't…*and when it finally showed up it turned out they had hired a well known con artist to paint it which as I recall caused people to back out.

Can never know for sure but seeing what I have from them that's how I feel about it.

Hi Scaleface, that was me who was dissing the fiction earlier. Sorry to hear you got upset by that, I meant no disrespect.

For me, the figure comes first - I personally have little time for the fiction that comes packaged with a lot of these 3P toys, though I appreciate that there are those that do. Warbotron being the first example off the top of my head... I threw those comics out with the packaging. My point was merely that a lot of people were going to buy these figures to stand in for Starscream, Grimlock, Skullgrin or whoever, and as such, hiring a screenwriter to assure people that this was actually Desolataur from the planet whatever-it's-called might not be the best use of resources. Just my two cents at the time.

I think when we become emotionally invested in something, we take any criticism as a personal slight. I'm the same way with stuff that I like, I get ratty when people criticise Doctor Who, Arsenal FC, Marvel UK, Tegan and Sara etc. I'm genuinely saddened that you took my comments to heart because, as I said on this thread before, I admire your enthusiasm and positivity.

    Peace and love.

I'm pretty sure you just turn the arms and legs 180 degrees in their sockets to transform them from a robot to a ship. You don't need to disassemble them to transform between those modes. So they are not partsformers.

I actually agree with Dedguy here. If it had been a normal third party toy we would have seen maybe a silhouette and a few prototype images just as preorders had gone up on BBTS, then we could have ordered them and had them inside a few months. Almost no public advertising would have been done besides a preorder notification from a few companies. It has almost nothing in common with advertising a Kickstarter campaign, as it completely skips that step.

Really? I seem to recall you posting a whole list about Transformers Collectors causing the KS to fail.
I believe it was Kickstarter Action Figure Collector vs Transformers Collector.

PWTT elicited that sort of response with their tone-deaf approach to this whole thing.

Someone seems to be posing as Rik Alvarez's company "Play With This Too", and is befriending people on Social Media (facebook) under the name "Playwith Thistoo". Wanting to help Rik get the word out.

Let the record reflect that I'm a commercial copywriter with 20 years experience who has helped my friend successfully organize and fund his most recent comic book Kickstarter.

Should anybody like my help into putting together a KS campaign, I'd be more than happy to help for the low low price of a few action figures or whatever it is you're putting together.

I enjoy this kind of stuff.

It's pretty dam sickening to wake up to learning some jerk has started a Facebook account, stuck an old picture of me as it's profile picture on it, and used it to harass a bunch of people, including Rik Alvarez's wife!

That is. Sorry to hear it. I have no idea who is to blame for the Facebook fiasco but this thread is really shameful as well. So much meanness here... whether intentional or otherwise. If you don't support PWWToo, then ignore them and move on. Don't harass. Don't slander.

    This thread.......:wtf:

I wanna say I can't believe that someone would start a fake Facebook account, slap someone else's face on it, and harass people with it, but at this point I would just be lying to myself.

This board is one of the most toxic places I've ever visited on the internet, so I'm not at all surprised that someone would do that. Some loathsome basement dweller, I have no doubt. I've expressed irritation here as to the way PWTT bombarded this board with marketing, but that sort of shit is just terrible.

To whoever's responsible (and we KNOW that you're reading this), this is really immature. These people are just pursuing their dreams. What are you doing with your life, other than pointless trolling?

The I feel happy for you as this is by far one of the better boards out there. I have been on some bad boards. Blizzards boards and steam boards come to mind.

This forum, particularly the 3rd party sub-forum, is actually one of the most positive and supportive toy forums I have been on.

    Like, shockingly so.

Let's not get self-loathing because of the actions of one person who may not even be an active member of the community.

i would disagree, seems like there are just a few threads in this forum where the tensions run high. guttur v sever, used to be feral rex vs TFC Ares... but this one takes the cake.
the only other place ive seen conversations devolve to this level is the Fansformers FB page.

No. It's bullying, plain and simple, of someone who is simply trying to promote something that they like and has mostly been doing it in a positive and respectful (albeit vocal) way.

It's petty and mean-spirited. Attacking people on a personal level over a hobby, something you both claim to do for enjoyment... screw that.

I went and bumped my pledge up to the five-figure (five action figures, that is, not, you know, five-figures) level from two-figure just because these people have to put up with bullshit like this. At this point, of course, it seems it'll be largely symbolic. But whoever is going through the trouble of creating fake Facebook accounts for the sheer sake of harassment...it is safe to say that I want to be doing whatever the opposite is from what that person wants me to do, which in this case is buying these figures.

Anyway, sorry, I guess that's off topic. I entirely understand if the posts surrounding this issue need to be deleted. This'll be the last I say on the matter, especially with the campaign a few days away from ending.

Good idea. I am increasing my pledge to spit in the face of the trolls who attacked Rik and his family! I'm utterly shocked to find they used my picture to attack an innocent woman this morning, if the only thing I do today is to spite them, I've had a good day.
