Paddles is a 6th Dinobot character who was introduced in the Transformers Legends anthology.

His alternate mode is a Plesiosaurus

In late January 2014, Planet X confirmed via their Facebook page that along with their own interpretation of Fall of Cybertron Grimlock (PX-06 Vulcan), they would make Paddles in the Fall of Cybertron aesthetic.

To amend the first post, Planet X did not confirm Paddles in 2014 at all. They specifically mentioned that the picture was just posted because "it was cool". In the same way that they did not have plans to make Grimlock until later on, Paddles was at most a thought. Paddles was only officially confirmed at TFCon, which was their "special surprise" that they had promised right before the con.

In the case of FoC, it's not so useless. The game itself has multiple occasions that show that there is technology to float/hover/fly. See FoC Optimus in-game. To achieve his "burst" speeds, his wheels fold up and he starts hovering or whatever.

Take it with a grain of salt, but FoC Paddles may be the only useful Paddles.

If it were FT paddles, or TW paddles, I think I would be interested.

Planet X paddles? Not so much

Though many are excited to see a FoC Paddles, I personally do not care for this version of him. This stems from my experience from the game vs. that of reading the comics. Paddles had no mention in the game, not even a hint. Heck, Sludge's lore was obscure at best in the game and the most we got from him was his corpse in stasis-lock pinned up against a wall and a holographic render of his dino-mode towards the end of the game.

That being said, I have no doubt this will be an awesome looking figure especially if Planet X continues to cater to the FoC/WfC aesthetics as they have. I would have highly preferred Planet X tackled characters that made an actual appearance in either of the games, even if as obscure as mentioning their names (for example: the mention of the Constructicons when Starscream's statue was taken down during the Megatron re-emergence chapter in FoC). I still await the holy grail of all FoC/WfC dinos: Trypticon (highly wishful thinking on my part).

    How come?

    Not a FOC fan?

I really can't see how he would be a Sludge retool. Other than a longer neck, there's too many differences between the dino modes to make a retool look right.

I'm a HUGE FoC/WfC fan. It's the series that got me back into collecting TFs again. But even I admit my interested in FoC Paddles is practically nil.

The neck, the tail, parts of the torso all take queues from FoC Sludge. I think the major changes will be the legs (for flippers) and the details that distinguish him from Sludge.

The neck and tail I could see, but my main concern is that dino body in between. Sludge is a little too....large in the middle I would think, but then again, what do I know?

    I'm certainly no designer. :lol

    150% wrong
As, iamgnahk corrected, it has been repeated stated since that post that the picture was merely posted because it was cool. The same picture was the source of Grimlock belief which was also untrue until later and not connected to the picture. Please for the love of Primus edit that post as there are STILL people out there, such as yourself, making this incorrect statement.

Paddles has only been on the table since TFCon. Prior to that there was nothing.
