I would add, as much as I love mine, that in dino-mode, the tabs near the arms/dinolegs that connect to the robot legs/dinoback, are very fiddley on mine. One side tabs in and the other will pop out eventually. Not sure why that is yet. I played with the flaps that cover the robot head, but still finding that only one side tabs in correctly.

I have a stress mark on one of the long tabs of the first tail segment, but I think it's due to the fact that my top half of the tail was misassembled using a piece from the bottom half, so it's missing the second set of tabs that should be holding both tail halves together in dino mode. I've already sent an email to BBTS to see if they can help me get a replacement.

It's a shame that mine was misassembled because otherwise, this would be my favorite piece in my collection. I had read from you guys about how the dino mode was bigger than the robot mode would lead on, and you weren't joking. It's incredible how much mass it has.

I had a very small amount of flash on mine. I scraped all sides of the pegs with a hobby knife and now it all fits.

A few days ago, I came up with a radical idea for a Shapeways add-on for Vulcan:

Removable VTOL turbines (like Beast Wars Transmetal Megatron had) that can be placed on the peg hole in his T-Rex mode thighs.

That along with the thrusters on the back of his T-Rex mode, Vulcan can be fully flight-capable. :inquisiti

    Vulcun arrived and looks great.

Do you have tips for how to peg the robot legs to the dino back? I cant manage to have all of them pegged in the same time. Everytime at least one of them jumps out.

So one thing for folks transforming him for the first time: the tail may be in his right and left leg respectively, but they form the top and bottom half of the tail (and not right and left).

Aside from the tail it's a pretty easy transformation. No way Hasbro could have done this without a detachable tail.

With the budget cuts they implemented on the FoC line of toys, I don't think they could have pulled it off, period.

It's really interesting to me just how close FoC Grimlock actually was detail wise... even (very) basic transformation scheme wise.

The core difference is that the robot mode feet just moved back and forward to make this fat tail thing on the FoC version, which made the robot chest have to be "face up". Because on Vulcan the tail folds into the boot, , the robot feet cahn fold back onto chest, which now rotates around the waist to be face down.

Not to mention Vulcan is leader size.

It's not very often we can compare a 3P to a Hasbro release that is supposed to actually be the exact same thing. I think it's neat. If hasbro had done the tail differently (even if more kid-friendly than Vulcan) and let the boots fold up onto the back of the chest in dino mode, everything else on FoC Grimlock could have been reasonable close.

Check to see if the toes got rotated around completely - I had to loosen the screws there to get the feet to go all the way around. Then it was easy
