Custom commissions are new to me, and I don't really know how much to charge for this sort of thing. I've decided to distribute them on a "donation" basis. Shipping will only cost a couple of dollars, so whatever you contribute on top of that is up to you. It takes time and effort to do these -- I have the beet-red fingers and cuts on my hands to prove it! -- but my goal is merely to reward those who've bought Project Genesis (and the Genesis "faceplate tank") and encourage others to do the same.

Plus, since each is heated, pulled, and cut by hand, no two are exactly identical, and there are slight differences in plastic density and tint as well. The fairest way I can distribute these is to send the best specimens to those who contribute the most; someone who sends me $10 is obviously going to get the deepest amber visor with the cleanest cuts of the bunch, and someone who sends $3 will likely a thinner, lighter piece with a minor imperfection. That's not to say I'll send anyone an unsatisfactory part -- I've already rejected two pulls that weren't up to my personal standards -- but I need some objective way to decide who gets which pull.

Does that sound fair?

Is it possible to do this mod without permanently altering either of the original heads? I don't mind disassembling and reassembling in a new way, but I like to keep things capable of being returned to their original form.

Yes, only the face itself requires any alterations... and that's just trimming the tabs off the back of the faceplate and sanding the edges flat. I see no reason why either head couldn't be later reassembled exactly as they originally appeared.

Can you recast the face plate and sell it together with the canopy?

 

No, for two reasons:

First, I'm Planet X's biggest supporter. Not only did they produce the best third-party Transformer EVER, they even responded to fan criticism and gave us the face we've been whining for... at an absurdly cheap price, too! I realize they haven't begun distributing their "faceplate tank" online, but I expect them to do so shortly. I have no intention of hurting potential sales.

More importantly, I have no experience with casting and wouldn't know how to anyway.

Okay guys, the first batch of visors is done and in the mail. Expect them within a week or so.  

They've been shipped in simple white envelopes addressed by hand, and did not require any special customs declaration or paperwork. To prevent the pieces from getting crushed or bent, each has been placed inside a bottle cap for protection.



I've had a lot of perfect pulls this week, and I'm getting so good at it I've decided to redo the original visor I made for my own Genesis. My prototype just isn't quite as perfect as the ones I'm producing now!
