Maybe a 10/10 as it was another Pixar masterpiece. I went in expecting it to just be a copycat of THe Book of Life and what I got was some far deeper and far more authentic.

Frozen Short - 5/10. It was pretty bad. There were some really funny moments, but the songs were pretty bad as was the singing from the actors.

Went to see it. Everyone loved it! Not as dark as the ads made it look but some tearjerker moments. This is classic Pixar. Great movie.

The olaf short was more like a looney tunes slapstick with olaf getting knocked around everywhere. Songs in olaf were "pk" but it gets the job done. Love the joke of no one wanting the fruit cake.

Worth watching. I loved it and so did everyone in my family. The dog steals the movie.

Great film, vast improvement over The Good Dinosaur. Going to be a real tearjerker too for a lot of folks.

Honestly, every trailer I have seen and praises still cannot make me interested in this movie. I recall there was a similar day of the dead-themed CGI movie some years ago but that involved some voodoo gods too (forgot the title) and I keep confusing the two. I'll probably watch it on Kimcartoons someday when I have some time, but it's not a must-see. The last years Pixar movies really did not wow me - Good Dinosaur was terribly mediocre and forgettable, Inside Out was OK but nowhere as great as the critics praised it to be, and Finding Dory and Cars 3 were just solid "OK" movies that again, I watched once and don't feel the urge to even download for later rewatching. The last movie from them I saw multiple times and really liked was Monsters University.

It was called The Book of Life. There's a slight rivalry between fans of the films, since both are Mexican-themed and centred around the lands of the living and the dead.

However the movies are quite different. Only the same if you're really trying make it or stating blunt plot points and ignoring the rest.

So I never voiced my thoughts on this until now.

Easily top 5 Pixar material. And it was just fucking moving. It literally tore me apart to watch it. I watched it with my sister and she tried to talk to me about it, but I was literally so moved that I couldn’t speak about it. This is Up, or Toy Story 3 level tearjerker stuff.

I do feel the movie got a tad generic at some parts, namely the
Ernesto twist, but that was solely in regards to that. The greater ramifications for Mama Coco and all made up for it. And I’ve also grown to really hate the liar revealed/third act misunderstanding story, but thankfully they didn’t focus everything on that. I think the movie could’ve worked fine without Ernesto being a surprise villain like Prospector, Waternoose, and Lotso, but it’s whatever.
Still absolutely wonderful, and the last scene is probably going to stay with me for a long, long time.

Also really enjoyed the scene with Edward James Olmos.

Agreed. Coco is the only movie that ever made me emotional and get water in my eyes
