So when you get that big box (or boxes) in from an online retailer, or you find a whole pile of new figures in one go at the store (like a line release), or you hit the vendor room at a con...

Now you've got a pile of figures to open and enjoy. Do you open them all in one go (binge) or do you stretch it out, opening one every day or few days or even week(s) to savor having new TFs?

I find myself savoring - opening a figure here and there after a crappy day... Or a good day. So I tend to have a pile of figures to open at all times, like a treasure hoard (horde?). Drawbacks of this are that it can delay finding a defect that needs returning/exchanging.

Which do you tend to do? Binge or Savor?

i definitely try to savor.. but i always end up binging.

it's just too difficult to not open something up and transform it, pose it, and display it.. it's just way too much fun.

i feel so bad for those people who don't get to enjoy that.

I went almost 12 hours without opening Senator Ratbat, but only because I went to sleep pretty much just after I got home that day & ordered like 5 things at once.

I'll savor if I think about it, but the backlog is a more accurate description of what happens to me. I've got young kids that are way more fun, so my own toy thing is always on the back burner.

I tried to savor but I'm a weak willed man and I usually open them at first chance. Heck I've been known to open figures knowing full well I'm dead tired. There I am like a nut sitting there dozing off fiddling with the darn thing. Happened with Breacher and a few Classics figs.

I like to start out thinking I'm going to be chill and only open one or two. But then my druggy personality kicks in, and I end up opening everything and end up dazed and covered in spent packaging. It's a hell of a rush, but I'd probably be better off buying one hit, I mean toy!, at a time.

I stare at the box internally struggling what to do. I tease the box with my fingers slowly caressing the cardboard and plastic packaging. The factory glue is practically dripping from the seal. My body yearns to open and feel it's amazing figure, but sometimes I just can't. I set it down walk away and it begs me calls out my name. I turn around, pick up the bustling package and ravage the packaging causing all secure wires binding my sweet figure to bust open. Then that's when the real fun starts...

I find that the enjoyment drops off a fair amount after opening 2 or 3, so I try to savor the experience. My figures mostly get opened, transformed, posed and then displayed, so I try to enjoy them as much as I can the first time around. They get re-posed at times when I adjust displays, but (because of lack of space, haha... my CHUG shelves taken down take up most of my bed which is most of my "free" bedroom space) that's a much faster process.

My rule of thumb is that once opening boxes and undoing twist-ties or whatever feels annoying, that it's time to stop. I've lost the anticipation at that point, so it's more like the tail-end of a cocaine party rather than the first 4 hours.

I got about around 9 toys sitting to the side awaiting to be opened on my 25th birthday, July 17th. I'm really getting impatient about Generations Whirl though...

I've got a pretty large backlog that has built up. I pop a few out every now and again. I guess that means I savor it... Unintentionally though.

I wait for the perfect time to open a figure up, depending if it's a complex figure or not.

    which ones are they?

also.. unless you love the character, try not to be super excited about whirl.

i like the character, but once i opened it up, posed him and transformed him.. had him for about a day.. i couldn't stand it and i returned him. his legs, thighs, waist, and feet all seem to be designed without a clear idea on how they wanted them to be positioned.

but hey, when it comes to this figure people either love it or hate it.. it could go either way.. but still opening a new figure is fun no matter what.

sometimes i can't tell which is more exciting though, finding a figure for the first time at retail or opening it up.

I voted sometimes binge, sometimes savor. But savor is better actually. You get to enjoy them better. Anyway, I have a serious backlog, but today I opened the following:

    - WFC Optimus+Corbot War Axe
    - TFP BH Deluxe Shadow Bumblebee
    - TFP BH Deluxe Prowl

Whenever I get in a huge PoL shipment from BBTS, I tend to wait and savor by pacing myself and opening one figure per (week) day, more on weekends. I find that it's a great stress reliever after a day at the office and gives me something to look forward to when I get home from work. Time tends to be a precious resource with me what with work, school, the wife, and dog all clamoring for my attention so I find this works best with me. :D  I'd love to just binge on all my toys in a single sitting but this is typically confined to weekends. I try to get all the figures opened up within two weeks for any given PoL so that way I'm still covered by BBTS's exchange and refund time limit / customer service in case anything's missing or if there's a factory defect.

OK, in the grand scheme of things there are at least a dozen things which take priorities over playing with toys, for me. (One of which is writing a thing about said toys. See my sig.)

Meaning I have at least 30, maybe 50, unopened TFs in my loft, stretching back to 2008/09.

I buy these things, looking forward to a time to live like a kid again, and I never do.

I've got movie toys, AEC stuff, Henkei, RTS, HFTD, some highly-rated toys from over the years... And just no time to kick back for some pew-pew-pew, eh-heh-o-hoh, kapow!

    Voted Backlog.
