I would *love* to see what Shattered Glass Beast Wars would've looked like.

The panels are all really solid too!
But I think the real fun part is going to be Friday night. It's going to be awesome meeting and greeting with folks I haven't seen in over a year, and even some first time meeting other friends. And then watching the new movie with a theater full of other Transformers fans, and not so much the casual movie goers. It's going to be a lot of fun, I think.
Not to mention... Three of my favorite artists are going to be there on Saturday!

I ain't gonna let it get me down. This is very likely to be my only convention trip this year, and I am pumped for it.

Anybody going to forgo seeing TLK on Wednesday so they can experience it for the first time Friday with the con group?

I am, actually... I had planned to see the early showing (haven't missed an early showing since 07) with a few local friends (who aren't super into TFs but appreciate what my hobbies are lol) before seeing what was on tap for PRC. So count me in as someone else going in blind :)

A Shattered Glass Beast Wars set? I'm glad we dodged that bullet. As much as I love Beast Wars and would want almost any excuse to repaint or reissue them, the one exception would be Shattered Glass. I'm glad we didn't have to suffer that depravity. Here's how SG BW would have shaken down. You take the two leaders and swap their color schemes. Black, white and red Megatron. Purple and green Primal. Then you take some of the early or unreleased color schemes of the toys and repaint the toys in those colors. For example, orange Tigatron. Then you take characters who had alternate color schemes in the show and repaint figures based on that. For example, a purple and silver Rhinox based on his Predacon form in Dark Designs and a black and white/white gold Blackarachnia based on her appearance in The Trigger. And if you're still lacking for repaints, you take the characters that are left and just throw color schemes on them based on anything you can think of until something sticks. "Uh, Jean Grey Airazor. They're both girls and the Phoenix is a bird. Yeah, that works! And we can even repaint her again as Dark Phoenix for the Subscription Service if we want." And finally, once you have enough, you take any pre-existing repaints that don't have much fiction to them and just repurpose them as Shattered Glass versions of their molds original character. "Puzzle Rattrap, ah sure, that's SG Rattrap now".

What would have been a lot more interesting would have been to do a "What If" style story based around how the original concept of BW was that it was the original Autobot and Decepticons, and not new characters with some of the same names. I think the only thing stopping them was if they did a red and blue Primal that would basically be Primal Prime. And if they did a grey, black, and red Megatron, that would be pretty similar to SG Megatron. Although they could have done something similar to the eHobby ConvoBat and Megator, but swap them around so that Prime is the gator mold, also homaging the G1 City of Steel episode, and Megatron would be the bat, possibly homaging Car Robots Devil Gigatron. So not so much a 1 for 1 translation, but more of what a logical re-imagining of the concept would be. For example, Bumblebee as a repaint of Waspinator because then we'd finally have Bumblebee who turns into a bee. Or we could get that Takara remold of Animated Blackarachnia repainted as Arcee, homaging the old BotCon Arcee. And we'd probably have gotten Blaster and Soundwave repaints of Polar Claw and Scorponok since they have that deploying sentry gimmick.

So, for those who are going to the con, how does a good old fashion Parts Party sound after the movie on Friday night? Now I'm not talking about rooms being set up as mini dealer booths, but a bunch of fans sitting in the Hotel Lobby with boxes of parts swapping and selling all sorts of toy parts like we use to do in the old days of botcon. (The closer to the bar the better.) That's not to say that having stuff in rooms would be bad, just that Parts Parties the last few years have turned into a scavenger hunt in rooms all over the hotel. I remember when we all sat in the lobby as a group as stories were passed around like parts between fans. I guess I kinda feel a little nostalgic for shows in the past as I remember them. The early years, where the shows were still small, I always thought the fans seemed closer and more like a club than just a bunch of strangers at a show.

Am I just being nostalgic or am I chasing an old memory that is just a dream? What do you guys think?

We do that and I'll bring some stuff.

Start posting your BSTs, folks. Me, I have a need to acquire the Takara Wheelie and Goshooter (really just the Goshooter, but I'll take the set).

For selling or trading, I'm pretty sure I still have some Botcon 2014 extras.

I'm in. I think I have some spare figures, accessories and whatever else.
If I don't, I think I'm in just to swap stories over some beers. And looking for a few wanted parts as well.

I am all for that. I turned the basic parts party of the 90's into what it was at the last Botcon. I started by taking the concept of having a place where people could trade / sell without having to be tied to a booth. I am all for having it in the lobby or where ever. Grass roots sounds good to me.

The panel with Harold Tietjens about the Secret History of Transformers would be worth the price of admission all by itself. His Cybertronian guides are outstanding resources for the fans.
