As 'Transformers' Gets Its Original Look Back, Star Peter Cullen Gets Nostalgic For the Old Days
Peter Cullen is a wholesome national treasure. We need to protect him the way K-pop fans protect their boys.
I wonder if Peter Cullen is alright with the fact that he will forever be known as Optimus Prime (and Eeyore). I hope so because that is probably the only thing most people will remember him for.
He was also the announcer for Toonami on Cartoon Network.
cullen turned down being optimus in robot chicken sketches because he took the role too seriously, didn’t want optimus to die in TFP because he didn’t want kids to deal with what ‘86 kids dealt with, and has spoken against the... viciousness of movie optimus, so i’d say he’s pretty invested in his role at this point.
the robot chicken in particular was optimus getting diagnosed with prostate cancer, so that might’ve had something to do with it too
Hey, Peter isn\'t just Optimus & Eeyore. He\'s also Ironhide, Coran from Voltron, and Venger from D&D.
And the Predator.
I should remind myself to put you on my ignore list..
"The only thing missing is the cast; I don’t work with the full cast the way that we used to. I miss the days when we would have laugh attacks and production would shut down for five or six minutes due to everyone laughing so hard they couldn’t stop. Those were the days that I cherished.”
We all cherish the young days, Mr Cullen. Things were definitely simpler back then, and not just because we were kids.
And I'm glad he enjoys working with Judd Nelson.
And whichever character is narrating this kickass sequence!
Omg the feels is real.
I will forever love that man for giving us wonderful childhood cartoon characters memories.
At least Peter\'s having fun.
After looking at my original post, I admit that I sounded pretty dickish and disrespectful. I deeply apologize. I just was wondering whether Peter Cullen has found himself in an "Alex Guinness" situation (towards the end of his life, Mr. Guinness became increasingly more annoyed and irritated that the only prominent role that he was remembered for was playing Obi-Wan Kenobi, despite being talented enough playing numerous other roles). I love Peter Cullen's work and I was wondering if he loved playing those as well or was it just for the money. I was not trying to put down Peter Cullen's work despite what my ham-fisted comment was implying. I apologize again.
Wait, what? *googles* No $#!t? Wow, I did not know that. That's awesome.
My kids got into Transformers first so of course when they got into Voltron my daughter wanted to know why Optimus Prime was doing the intro to the show. I told her they're in the same universe. lol.
Isn't he Canadian?
And Mario from Donkey Kong if I'm correct.
Yes...but what point are you trying to proof here?!
Well, that was my point! ;D
Well, Canadian or not, he's still a living treasure to all older G1 fans and beyond.
