Well, he's got the visual/action sense down, so he's a maybe. I'm not that familiar with his movies, so I really don't have strong beliefs of whether it'd be better than the current films as far as narrative goes. LOL at the "Battleship" name being a nameslap for an alien invasion movie that doesn't really seem to be a straight translation between mediums. About as faithful as the POTC adaptation was, I guess.

    *wikis*

Hmmm, he's directed a film called "The Human Centipede". Sounds like a good fit for a Beast Wars-style film.

    *watches film*

    Naw, I'll pass.

You could have gotten a pretty good period film out of a name like Battleship. Either one of the battles from World War I or World War II.

But the Hollywood formula seems to be that if you are having trouble putting a concept into the modern era then just add either aliens or zombies to the mix.

And by the way, THIS looks billions of times even further away from the Battleship source material than anything in the Bay Transformers movies do from Transformers.

So... be careful what you wish for.

I watched both trailers on youtube. The way they are investigating that ship in the water, that was a little more entrance-of-Shockwave feeling than him poppin up out of the dirt (i know he had a digging machine, whoopteedoo, no-prize for you), in my humble opinion.
Definitely seems to have a Bayformers feel, like when they show that arm transforming.

It also looks like it's gonna have some boring "love" parts, and the actors don't look that great, like the Battlefield LA, which I never wanted to see....

I agree with what someone said: Show a shot of Optimus rising to look up at the sky, or a quick shot of Megatron's eyes flaring red, and I would see it being a Bayformers flick.

Seriously, can you see Shockwave commanding that ship in the water? I can.

So is this leading up to "G.I. Joe and the Transformers" or what? I'm not trying to be funny. I wanna see Tyrese an them join up with the Joes, they were better than the actual Joes from that movie. Chatum Dunning or whoever the hell he is was pretty decent though.

I loved The Rundown and I think Berg and Bay are similar with their directing styles. They never relent on the action scenes. I still think Justin Lin would be a great directorial choice for a Transformers movie.

I really hoping it would be based on the board game, though. Like Clue.

Hes the guy who is directing the upcoming battleship film and it looks just like a michael bay transformers film.

Lots of effects, a hot girl, a love story incorpated into an action film.

I think it would work very well.

    whose for it?

I'm not. I want to get away from Bayfilms, not closer.

I'd have Jon Favreau (the guy who did Cowboys and Aliens) direct. Good movie. Enough explosions to keep explody-minded people entertained, enough plot to keep the plot-minded people entertained, and a hot chick.

    And a dog.

As fun as Battleship looks, I'd like a break from the Bay-style really.

Yeah, like everyone else is saying, they might need a replacement for Bay, but they shold change the style a bit.

Ha ha, if it wasn't listed as the Battleship trailer I would have been wondering how Transformers 4 had a trailer out when they haven't started filming yet.
