At least she isn't dead. I hope she doesn't have any permanent damage from this... physical or emotional. That would be tough.

And remember it's not entirely Bay's fault. I don't see how you can isolate a particularly unfortunate incident and blame it on a single person.

that is easy...cause he is in charge...the buck stops with him. accidents happen due to shoddy plans, materials, etc.

someone fucked up and that is how accidents happen.

well that's certainly true. Checking Bay's website in the wake of it, I thought they might've had some preliminary acknowledgement without going into specifics. I can understand how that could be overlooked with everything else that's going on, but it might've helped his case with the 'Bay doesn't care who gets hurt' crowd.

I couldn't agree more with the last ten posts on this page. People using this as a pathetic excuse to call Bay an asshole. Because Bay totally wanted this to happen ya'know with the 'splosions and stuff *sarcasm*

Yeah, Michael Bay, the same Michael Bay who actually helped out with the Haiti Quake and offered $50,000 for the arrest of that girl who killed all those puppies. Yep that sounds like an asshole to me *sarcasm*

Anyone read the comments on Jalopnik's news story on this? Fuck after reading it I wanted to give every single one of them a whack in the throat.

ok, i'll probably get bashed by saying this but the person/people responsible for this is either the guy who manages extras or the girl herself. i dont get the "driving her own car on set" thing, was she meant to do that ?

That's the thing, nobody is really too sure what the facts are.
In one version she's an extra put into a stunt scene that goes wrong, the other is she's a bystander that got hit by debris from a faulty explosive.

Accidents happen out of the clear blue goddamn sky. It is not always because someone fucked up. Even the best constructed sets can have unforeseen events happen. That's why they're fucking called ACCIDENTS.

Aside from all of this, you DO realize that people participating in filming like this are required to sign waivers, right?

Get over your goddamn Bay-hate and stop trying to further your agenda with someone's suffering.

Even if paramount is takig sides with their statement, its great to see them not put blame on anybody. It was an accident. Period. No one wants to get hurt and the entire team do their best to make sure of that.

I think so. Some guy put up a youtube video of himself driving his car into position on a highway for a scene, about a minute before, and a hundred feet from the accident. The studio having extras drive their own cars is a cost-cutting measure.

this! and the very real possibility of things like this happening is why films in production have to carry heavy insurance this whose money fund the production require as much.

which ever way pans out to be the truth its a terrible accident and nothing more. my prayers go out to the young woman and her family.

Why assume there will be a lawsuit? Without doubt, waivers of liability were signed. There is going to have to be proof of NEGLIGENCE for a lawsuit to take place. People don't get to sue (successfully) "just because." They need to have a case.
