    Recording Data on magnetic tape isn't a new technology. As a matter of fact the very first Transformers Videogame was available on a cassette tape for the Commodore. They don't use cassettes to store Data anymore because
    A. They don't hold that much information.
    B. You have to rewind them every Time you want to reuse them
    C. If they get anywhere near a magnet, they tend to get corrupted
    D. If the tape should come loose on the spool for whatever reason, that'll ruin the tape as well.
    E. Pulling Data from a Cassette Tape is Notoriously slow.
