i mean if your mostly looking for a deluxe bot that combines with a trailer then potp optimus prime will be cheaper, but his combined mode is much closer in appearance to season 1-2 optimus prime. if you want an actual powermaster prime then pc-15& 16 plus hasbro powermaster prime/magnus prime/lg super ginrai is the way to go. if you want an update of god ginrai then pc-15/16, magnus prime/super ginrai and godbomber is the way to go.

its all in what you want, how you want it to look and how much you are willing to spend

 

I just want to note that PoTP optimus prime isnt actually G1 accurate as optimus in season 1 and 2...was a cab not a cab plus trailer.

In that way only the powermaster op which is pc-15& 16 plus hasbro powermaster prime/magnus prime/lg 35 is the most g1 accurate representation of the 1988 toy.

 

I doubt anyone on the board is confused about which components transformed into S1-2 Prime. What folks mean is that the style cues of the bot (and alt for that matter) look more like that era, transformation aside, than PMOP. For a toy that captures both the look and gimmicks, LG 45 plus kits comes the closest. This is all based on a tiny, blurry photo of course, so things could change.

 

That may be, let's just say the new figure gives a reason for primes trailer always disappearing. Anyway I did say that it looked more like season 1/2 prime, keyword being looked

 

Yeah, all of the design markers (that we can distinguish) on the PotP mold scream OG1 Optimus Prime. Differences I could see from Ginrai include the feet, the chest (it appears to enclose the cab completely), the head, the paint apps (yellow on the cod piece), the weapons (a G1 weapon and none of the 4 Ginrai ones), and the cab and trailer design (more boxy and the blue stripe goes up in the back rather than the front).

Is it just me, or is the red darker?

 

It does maybe look a smidge darker. I like it though.

 

As do I, and the darker red will be a better match for Magnus Prime (I sold off Super Ginrai when I ordered Siege on Cybertron).

 

It actually might match a little better with Magnus Prime. hopefully the colour difference isn't too noticeable in hand.

Has to be said that for a Perfect effect figure the transformation is quite a bit simpler than the likes of Warden, Leo-Prime and co.

sorry to be a lazy git who doesnt want to read 55 pages, but do you need the light up head to use the PC-16 I do want both but together they cost as more than the original figure and I may just get PC-16

 

If you want the head to not be partsformed, then you need PC-15, but the original Headmaster Helmet is compatible. Just can't be stored.

Can the PC 15 power master stand inside the cab in truck mode?

 

I like how it looks in that review, looking forward to getting it in hand. I like Super Ginrai - I know a lot of people were down on it for some reason or another - and PMOP was one of my favorites when I was little, so this just feels "complete" to me.

 

I'm bummed that the standard head won't store, it's shitty that you have buy a whole other set to get one that does.

Maybe I'll do some mods to make something work.

 

I may be willing to split up my PC-15 set and sell the head to someone who only wants that. I mostly just wanted Hi-Q from it. I'm currently using the light-up haed that came with the set but I'm not especially attached to it. I'll see how I feel once PC-16 comes out and maybe part with it.
