Have you ever seen or known someone who you would never expect to be into Transformers?

It could be a friend, family member, co-worker, or even complete stranger.

I'll start...I once had this co-worker who never let on he was into Transformers. One day, I happened to be cruising the toy aisle at Target and saw him with a couple of 'bots in his hands. I asked him if he collected Transformers and he responded "Yeah, for quite awhile."

When I was a substitute teacher in the early 2000's I met 2 students who were into Japanese G1 and Beast Wars II/Neo.

I remember a work colleague telling me her boyfriend collected them. He was a doctor.

Otherwise, two of my friends collect Lego which I'd probably collect myself had I never discovered Transformers but one reasonably expensive hobby is enough.

There was this girl I knew. She's actually the one who turned me into a hardcore fan. Before, I was just a casual.

What about people who are "celebrities" that haven't been involved with the franchise.

I can think of a few VA's like Micah Solusod or Clifford Chapin (voice actors for anime dubbing), if you've seen their twitter feed they collect the figures and are fans of the franchise.

    An actor friend of mine.

(Although there are a lot of toy collectors in the film/TV world)

The day I make a custom display for my figures, I'll be using LEGO™.
The worlds you can make with such painful pieces are beautiful.

An old boss at work. She asked what I was doing with my weekend off once and I said I was going to see the then newest transformers film (AOE I think) to which she excitedly blurted that she loved those films even said I don't know why but I love the transformers films. She was about ten years older than me so it caught me off guard a bit kind of like if your grandma turns out to be really into pokemon I guess. Not to go into detail but she wasn't well liked while she worked with us and eventually left much to allot of peoples relief.

An older handicapped woman and her young daughter/granddaughter (I assume, I don't know them except in passing), in the elevator in my building, both turned out to be fellow Decepticon fans. :D

Back in high school I was TA (Teacher's Assistant) in the beginning Drama class in the morning while also taking Advanced Drama in the afternoon.

Anyway… one of the kids in the Beginning Drama class I was TAing for I noticed was reading a Transformers Graphic Novel during class. He was in the far back of the class room away from the teacher who I don't think noticed. I quietly asked him to put the book away during class and at the same time I also really wanted to discuss the book because I had never seen a Transformers Graphic Novel... or really ANY Graphic Novel before that point. So after class we had an entire discussion about Transformers. Like from that day onward we would discuss Transformers stuff during breaks... and even after high school I'd often see him cause he worked as a black smith right down the street from the theater I was working at.

He kind of lost his job because the area where we worked was in a historical state park and due to the fact that government funding for our state parks had been cut the black smith shop where he worked was shut down.

And chances are you've actually seen the black smith shop where my friend worked because Back to the Future 3 was filmed in the area and it was used as the setting for Emmet Brown's Black Smith shop in the movie. They also used it again... via stock footage, in 100 Ways to die in the West.

ANYWAY… he was also the first person who told me what Megatron's gun mode was actually called. I just knew it was a gun, I didn't know about the model of gun it was. Walter p.38... and apparently it's a modified version cause those guns don't normally have the capacity to attach all the accessories... Like the site is normally for sniper rifles and wouldn't normally be used on a small hand pistol like that. So it's a slightly customized Walter p.38 to allow for those add on's those don't come stock.

I have a coworker who saw the Weijiang MPP-10 Optimus I keep on my desk, and we got talking about the movies. Not long after that, he showed me a secret stash of movie bots in his office. He also drives a yellow Camaro with two distinct black stripes. I hadn’t connected those dots until then.

The Screen Junkies video with John Cena thinking about Transformers was fantastic. The comments about Tarantulas and Blackarachnia had me dead.

I was grabbing some TFs for customs when this guy in a suit and a new yorkish/bronxy accent walked towards the shelf. He seemed kinda nervous or self-conscious talking to me about it, but told me that the g1 repros were what I should really be getting. He was lamenting about how they'd never remake Megatron because he turned into a gun and was looking to sell off some of his old toys and I recommended him here. He seemed nice enough. Dunno if he ever took my advice but if he did. Hi!
