I was in Borders, literally forty miles away from the epicenter, and I didn't feel a damn thing. Scared me to death when they told me what had happened.

I was in my restaurant, about an hour North West of DC in Frederick. We have a limestone blasting company about 5 minutes up the highway that we can feel rumbling below our feet every now and again. At first I thought maybe they'd gotten too close, then CNN hit breaking news. We have a AAA repair shop next to us and I went over to see how the cars on lifts were doing and the manager asked me if I'd thought they'd blown something up. We got to cut up a little at least.

I must have gyroscopic stability or something, because my co-workers all said they felt our building shake this afternoon and I didn't even notice.

Felt it here in Butler Pa, north of Pittsburgh. Thought it was my co-worker shaking his leg, found out we had an earthquake when I went back to my cube.

U sure that's damage from the Earthquake and not the Jedi fighting it out with the Sith and those are just casualties?

I live and work in NJ and I felt it pretty good here. I thought I had vertigo for a moment until I realized everyone else felt it, too. Thankfully, no one was hurt and my home was fine when I finally got back to it. And none of my figures fell over! :)

Duuuuuuuude what are you smoking? A committee needs to formed to acknowledge the fact that an event happened, then another committee needs to be formed to decide whether or not action should be taken, once its decided that action needs to be taken bids will be taken to repair the damage, and after countless millions have been spent and fema activated the neighborhood mandatorily evacuated the homeowner will come home and right the chair. Thus saving us all from the damaged property. :lol

Fortunately that's not in WNY..Cause we'd then have to go to the Town and buy a permit to pick up said chair for 40$ before we can do any sort of yard labor..

I can't stop laughing. I'm out of breath and I'm not kidding. That is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while.

My loft on the fourth floor was in quite a mess. Much of my Macross figures took a tumble and exploded on the floor. Luckily there was no structural damage to any of the plastic and was able to put them back together. But yeah, with my collection being on the top floor, they were taken for quite a ride. I posted pics of the aftermath in the toy casualty thread as well at the Macross thread. When I first got home and saw that nothing moved on the bottom three floors I thought I got lucky. when I got to the loft, my heart sank. after taking pics and assessing the damage I was very relieved that nothing actually broke on my Macross figures. The other stuff like TFs and Joes I was less concerned about since they're relatively cheap compared to the Macross stuff.

But what pissed me off the most about today was the fact that I lived in California practically all my life without an incident where an earthquake knocked down figures. I move to the east coast thinking I don't have to worry about that kind of thing anymore and this BS happens.

I didn't panic during the actual earthquake since I lived in California much of my life. A few of my coworkers were flipping out though. I was, however, concerned about my house as buildings here aren't really built to withstand earthquakes. There's just so much brick used here unlike California where bricks are generally avoided. In Old Town Alexandria there were chimneys that cracked and fell on cars as the houses have been around since the 1800s

Damn a 5.8 Earthquake was really that bad? I thought Japan's 8.9 was worse though.
