Say goodbye to my old RotF husk! This guy was much easier and joy to repaint than his opposite... His bot mode only took about 3 hours! All hail Megatron! Alt mode uses the same colors plus one for the cockpit canopy, which I used tangerine tint spray atop the chrome aluminium spray. The two adversaries have a disagreement... Still like brothers...
Seriously? Hahaha! I can only think of him needing swivel wrists, but not really anything else! I like the head design as is... Do you have things in mind that he needs?
- The mentioned wrist swivels. - A battle mask (retractable if possible). - Maybe a way to reduce the huge hinge of the fussion cannon. That's all I could think of be uses this figure is already basically perfect.
Wow this is great, I love the finish and small details on the face. Out of curiosity how did you get that look for the silver paint, was it brush or airbrush? And did you use a wash on the face? I'd love to know how you did this.
Man that looks awesome ! Some wrist swivels would be nice but that's about it, even as picky as i am i must admit that the figure it's pretty spot on as it is (even more so with that gorgeous paint job you did), a battle mask would be nice but i can't think of any way to make it removeable...
Thank you! I started (yesterday) with a matte black base spray, then several light coats of steel spray. Then I used a small tipped paint brush, toothpicks and q-tips to add in layers of weathering and detailing using graphite metallic, gold, gloss red and metallic red. Today I felt like the steel coats were bit too dark still, so I masked the detail work and added new coats of chrome aluminium spray over him to brighten him up. Then added several more layers of gold and graphite metallic again for contrast and trim. Hopefully you can tell the difference in this new pic!
The difference probably isn't that noticeable in the pics from yesterday and today, but in-hand it's definitely a better "bright to dark" contrast.
That's definitely needed for bot mode. I took a look at that, and the fists don't completely store away inside the forearms. They stick out a bit in alt mode. I don't know how well fabricating a cover/lid would work for the alt mode yet.
