EDIT: i wanted to make this a poll but forgot...eh well... so, if you HAD to pick one, which do you guys prefer?...the Perfect Effects Reflector or TFC DSLR version? i know TFCs isn't out yet, but i think theres been plenty of pics to give some ideas... i'm asking because i plan to only get one set, and i'm having a really hard time choosing...they both look awesome!..lots of pros and cons of both sets* PE set pros: -very G1 in both design and color (toon) -cheaper most likely -will look great next to Hercules -tiny and adorable bot mode -available RIGHT NOW cons: -tiny and adorable camera mode -not in scale to a real camera -CAN'T display on a shelf with a real camera and fool anyone, it's purple TFC DSLR pros: -very realistic camera mode. CAN be displayed on a shelf and fool people, a true "robot(s) in disquise" -unique design, while still classic cons: -un-equally sized to each other in bot mode -more than likely expensive (comparably) -very large bot mode, only in scale to MP's disclaimer: these are all "IMO"
Having two sets of pe's (reg and night ops), they are awesome, and all the weapons are really fun, but still might get the tfc ones
I was originally going to go with TFC Reflector, but I changed my mind to PE Reflector. PE Reflector is just so cool and has so much playability with other figures because of how small they are. It makes good poses with other robots taking pictures because of the tripod and stuff. Right now I have one of them riding in WFC Soundwave's car mode. Only real advantage the TFC one has is the realistic camera mode.
thats the biggest thing holding me back right there... we take lots of pics and actually put them in albums, so we have bookshelves dedicated to albums...i think DSLR would look really cool displayed on said bookshelves with only myslf and my wife knowing he was a toy... but SFX is just so cool for all the other reasons besides that ^ one reason... errrrrrr...
Buy both, the TFC for alt mode display, and the PE for playing with and bot display. But if you are only gonna go with one, PE wins it for me
I actually picked up the PE Reflector on a whim and it came just yesterday. I must say that it is a great little set of figures. I had planned on getting the TFC version (and still most likely will get it), but I wanted to see what the quality of the PE brand was so I went with their best figure. I personally think they are awesome with their tiny size and overabundance of weapons. Your pros about PE are definitely true and your cons are only eh, but I would say that if you want only one and like the look of the TFC version, then get that one. Just think of the PE Reflector as the Classics version and the TFC Reflector as the Masterpiece version. Although I do like what zannus said above ^, makes sense to me.
Even being small, the PE ones are just full of awesomeness. I picked them up last week and could not be happier with my purchase. If you like the PE Frenzy/Rumble, you will love these guys. I also prefer the more G1-ish camera to the TFClub one, although from the protos we have seen, it is an interesting updated take on the character(s). More G1 wins out in my book, even if they are little guys.
I also own both PE versions of Reflector. Agree with all of the reasons above. TFC one looks fine, but I don't like Reflector enough to own another version. I'm not really concerned about a realistic camera, either. So, if I'm forced to buy one or another I'd still buy the PE release.
PE Scouting Force is a great reflector team... but sadly they're too small. If it was scaled to the size of an actual camera at least... then I'd have bought it.
thanks for all the great replies guys... and thats what holding me back on this set...that its not in scale to a real camera, which wouldn't have made the set that much bigger...but i really like the small size of the bot modes...
I went with PE Reflector with no regrets. I've always preferred the looks of it to TFC's. Realistic alt modes don't hold any sway with me, if I wanted something that looked exactly like a real camera I'd get a real camera.
welp, you all talked me into it...it being the PE-11 set...like in my pros for scout force, someone pointed out somewhere how great they'd look next to Hercules...i couldnt get past that image so i caved and got a set...should be here next week sometime... thanks again for your input fellas
