has anyone tried swapping PCC heads yet? with repaints coming out in wave 3, I'm thinking that'd help make some of them look a little different... Maybe Stakeout with Searchlights commander head? There's some who probably won't work, since they're not on ball joints (Bombshock) but still this may help make some of those repaints a bit cooler and different...

Can't say I've tried it but that would be an interesting idea.
I'm guessing the commander heads are with the tooling for the whole figure and mixing and matching toolings might not be something Hasbro would like to do themselves. But then they have given Minicons from other figures to the repaints so who knows exactly how the toolings split up.
Nowt to stop people swapping the heads themselves though.

yeah, the heads have to be molded together with the rest of the figure, but the minicons might be separate... i'm gonna have to sit down and play with my PCC's to see if i can swap some heads... i'm sure it'll work with some of them... i'll just have to see who...

The Minicons aren't separate. They're tied to the light-piping for the Scout Commanders.

But they're easily repackaged. Heads, on the other hand, often have differing attachment methods. And who's to say if the colours would even match up at all for head-swapping to look good?

Cool idea. I haven't looked into it yet but had planned to try to take a couple heads and swap them to other bots. I read somewhere that Smolder's commander head fits on some ROTF deluxe figures. Didn't really cross my mind to swap among other PCC's.

The Smolder repaint (forgot his name; looks like G1 Hotspot homage) combiner head would look good as a replacement of Icepick's head. It would give him an Energon Snowcat feel.

so, after some research... here's what i've found... the PCC's have 4 different types of Commander head Connectors... at least 4... Smolder and Huffer have a large ball joint... Icepick has a small ball joint... Searchlight has a slightly larger ball joint then Smolder and Huffer... and just slightly bigger... his head will stay on Smolder and Huffer, but their heads won't stay on him... very odd...

well, Huffer's head kinda stays on Searchlight, but doesn't move much...

then there's heads like Skyburst (and i assume Double Clutch and Leadfoot... can't get their heads off at all) who's got a little stump, with a slightly larger bulge at the top, which gives him 360 rotation, but doesn't seem to work with anything else...

Bombshock, Mudslinger and Sledge all have specialized heads that wouldn't look right if swapped... ie, Mudslinger would lose the truck grill, Sledge would lose his Scout head, and Bombshock... well... i'm not even sure how to begin to get his head off now...

I'll try to take some pics here and post them soon...

EDIT: Sledge has an even tinier ball joint then Icepick... and Sledge has a different sized ball joint too... but again, because its the grill of the truck is the head, and because the head is on a 45% angle, nothing else will work on it...

Can we get a shot of Huffer's head on Smolder's body?

Wow. I think I may pick up an extra Searchlight or buy his repaint for Stakeout's combined mode.. That does give him more of a "Defensor" vibe.

Edit:is Smolder still transformable with that headswap?

As far as Crankstart, I'm cool with his head :)

Can't help but think "Ultra Magnus" each time I see Searchlight's combiner head... Particularly the animated Magnus.

it doesn't really fit right, so I didn't take a picture. Huffer and Searchlight have long pegs then the ball joint but Smolder has almost no peg, so Huffers head doesn't fit well at all. I can swap them back tomorrow to show off but he looks down by nature.

Yeah, I dig that head swap. But Crankstart is totally keeping his standard head. Huffer might be getting a new one though.

Smolder's combiner head looks quite nice on Botcon '07 bug bite.

i can try to take pics of that tomorrow... along with more PCC swaps, if anyone needs them... and i'll check for transformation ability too... this is definitely making this line even more fun... just wish that every head was on the same ball joint...

technically, its part swapping... customizing would indicate modding or painting at least... :)
