Ok guys I hate posting this here but I really need some help. A family member who is a genius at breaking everything they touch has a serious PC problem that I'm trying to help with.

They claim that the computer said there were updates that needed to be installed, whether this was Windows updates or not I have no damn clue. Well they went and checked the computer after an hour and it was stuck in the Asus boot screen. This is where I come in, I tried the normal things, shutting it off, rebooting etc... But Windows was not loading. So don't ask me why I even thought of this but I figured I'd reset the CMOS by replacing the battery(had spare ones). Now when you boot the computer up an American Megatrends screen comes up and says I need to reset the BIOS. I don't see any option for reset, but there is a load best settings one. I select it and than go to save and reset and it's telling me I made no changes. So this is where I'm stuck at.

Thanks, but a Google search was the first thing I did. I tried to do what one of the videos said but even if I disable F1 it still starts in that screen.

Is this a laptop or desktop? Either way I suggest unplugging it, if laptop remove battery, if desktop just unplug, then push and hold the power button for about ten to twenty seconds. This should discharge the capacitors completely. Let it sit another 5 to ten seconds, and try a reboot into bios using F1 or ESC.

I don't even know if the bios was the issue or not, I may have created that problem by replacing the battery. All I know is they claim that Windows did an automatic update and afterwords it was just getting stuck on the Asus screen before the monitor would shut off.

The more I look into it looks like it may have been Windows automatic update that did this.

Check for a BIOS update and flash it.

Thanks for the help guys but I think I'm going to just take the tower to a PC repair place in town. It's not mine and I don't want to risk making it worse.

I think it's better to ask for help specialists to save your time and money.
