I'm trying to send a payment with paypal but it says I have a limit of $0.00. To lift it says I must add a debit or credit card to my account. What's this all about? I sent money with it not too long ago and I didn't have a limit like that. Is this another paypal scam to get more money from it's users? I'm getting tired of these policy changes. Can anyone shine some light on this for me? Is it safe to place my debit on there? Will this verify my account?

They're probably changing things again. I just sent payment to someone as a personal gift, and it charged me $0.08. I'm pretty sure that's never happened before either.

So now their are trying to squeeze fees out of the personal payment/gift option? Oh joy.

Yeah, there was a check box to opt that either you or the recipient will pay it.

Hmm, did you try to pay via PayPal Buyer credit? I know that option has come up before when trying to pay/gift using Buyer credit.

Apparently I reached my limit of "spending" and have to either verify my account or wait till my paypal anniversary to come along until I can send money again. Paypal just likes to rip people off. I'm gonna be calling their customer service tomorrow morning.

Thats really nothing new with paypal, unfortunately. They have had spending limits for a long time.

I'm pretty sure PayPal has imposed a spending limit for a long time now. So it's nothing new. You have to verify your account in order to lift such limits. Honestly, it's quite painless to verify your account.

Yes but what angers me is the fact I have entered my freaking bank information like a million times and they won't link my account. I have a feeling it has something to do with my mom closing down my old bank account and emptying it out while it was linked to my paypal account.

Yeah, getting verified is the ONLY way to go.

Also, I've been charged for sending money as a gift for as long as I've been doing it. I don't really care as it is such a tiny fee, but I can see how the principle of it sucks balls.

Paypal has a complete monopoly though, so we are over one big fat barrel I'm afraid.

I put my Debit card in and it lifted my balance from $0.00 to almost $9,000. It also allowed me begin the verification process using my checking account, which is in progress at the moment. Weird, but maybe it'll finally let me verify it. I can only hope, it's been unverified for years now. This would make it finally worth my while to have a paypal account.

Sending gifts domestically doesn't seem to incur a fee, sending them internationally does though.

That explains it then. Probably a fee for converting currencies.

    Ebay:
When they ask you to confirm it all they're asking for is for you to verify the amounts(2 of them) they deposited into your checking account(usually between $.01 & $.99). Soon as that's done you're verified, also for anyone trying to send fee-free payments send it as "payment owed" because when I tried sending a payment to NY it tried charging $3.83 when I chose the gift option.

never had this problem, even after my fiasco with my bank over replacing my expired debit card.

i added the new card, and PP hasn't been a problem.

Question: If I use paypal and they take the cash via my debit card, will there be any fees? And if so how much should I expect? Cuz I'm not looking forward to dropping $30 to buy a TF from a member and having paypal take out another 5 or 6 for themselves.

Not if you're the buyer. The seller is the one who gets charged the fees.
