    Laserbeak had Buzzsaw
    Rumble had Frenzy
How come Ravage didn't have anybody? I did noticed that there is a toy of Ravage in blue from E-Hobby I think, but poor Ravage never had anybody in the cartoons.
I've seen Rumble and Frenzy together in the cartoons, but was Laserbeak and Buzzsaw shown together?

Anyway, how come no partner for Ravage? Thinking about getting a G1 Ravage and doing a custom paint-job for it. Maybe something like a spotted Leopard or something.

I'm not sure if I'd consider Laserbeak and Buzzaw 'partners', nor Rumble and Frenzy even. In the cartoon Rumble was often utilized by himself.

That was the main function of Soundwaves cassettes for the most part - that they were each specialised in their own role.

If anything, Soundwave himself would be the partner for each cassette.

I agree with this. It wasn't often that the "partners" actually worked together (and even when they did, as in Auto-Beserk, there didn't seem to be much teamwork involved) and Rumble was utilised far more than Frenzy. Laserbeak also seemed to be a well-used personal favourite of Megatron's, more than Soundwave's.

But yes, most of the time the cassettes worked with Soundwave, so I'd consider him their "partner".

In either case, Ravage doesn't need a partner. He's Ravage! The only partner Ravage needs is Tums after he eats your face.

Wouldn't that make Optimus Prime his partner?

I think I've seen Rumble and Frenzy together in later seasons. Perhaps only in one episode.

Rumble and Frenzy seemed to be partnered in the Dreamwave books.

In the second UK Annual from 1986, the story 'State Games', had Ravage partnered with another cat-like robot called Nightstalker. They were both bodyguards to the Autobot Overlords (this was before the Primus mythology was introduced).

This wasn't part of the proper storyline but it is the first story to mention Megatron as a gladiator. The State games were also mentioned in the comics years later in an Ultra Magnus story.

I think it would be cool to see a G1 Ravage custom-painted into another character.

Because of how the packaging worked. Back in '84 the tapes came out with Rumble and Ravage in one two-pack, Laserbeak and Frenzy in another, and Buzzsaw came with Soundwave. Since there was nowhere else to package a tape, one of the three molds didn't get a repaint and it turned out to be Ravage. If I had to guess, I'd say it might be because Ravage, being one solid color apart from the chrome bits, had the least room for color variation compared to the humanoid and condor molds.

Reminds me of that Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode where Rita's minion would eat people, and their faces would appear on his stomach. *shudder*

Because it's part of marketing to get people to buy toys.

Buzzsaw was barely shown because he came with Soundwave, who was featured enough to get kids to buy his toy. Ravage and Rumble (Frenzy) came together, as did Laserbeak and Frenzy (Rumble), so the series made sure to emphasize Laserbeak and Ravage to get kids to buy their 2-packs, with the robot forms as bonus.

They were all Soundwaves minions, they weren't really individual partners beyond that, they all worked together.
