I picked these up at a show, thinking they belong to Mixmaster, but they aren't. Note the warhead is larger than the neck. I couldn't find anything on tfland, and cobra island is currently down. Any ideas?

 

Honestly I didn't read your post till after I saw the picture and I was going to say Mixmaster... but after reading your post I'm obviously wrong.

Yeah, Mixmaster is the only thing that came to mind... Too different (and long) for Hoist, for example.

 

any clues as to what color the plastic under the chrome paint is?

 

It looks to be a dark grey or black.

 

So I just went through all my catalogs since this kinda grabbed my attention. And you're right; it's not any kind of Mixmaster piece (the G2 version's the same, except it isn't spring loaded like the original) and neither Hoist nor Trailbreaker. No other figure in the G1 or G2 line has this. So it's either from a KO and modded as a result, or it could be Diaclone (only because I really have no idea what the differences would be on the Diaclone ones, if any at all).
