Ironhide plays a major role

That was fun to see. It's a very neat promotion gimmick.

 

He just wants to show them his cannons.

I loved that part in Space Odyssey with the giant robot next to the boats! 

 

Now I want a pirate Ironhide toy.

 

That was great.  

 

Hasbro have shot themselves in the foot with all these period-based Transformers that people really want as figures!  

 

Pirate? Why would he be a pirate?

 

Put bumblebee or optimus in the painting everyone can figure out their names in an instant, put ironhide in the painting and everyone\'s clueless.

 

Why is everyone saying they want a Pirate Ironhide? Granted that would probably be cool - but this is just his 2007 form inserted into a random image that does not really make sense to have him in. He's in the middle of the sea standing on water... :L

Also, the fact that very few people recognised a character that appeared in three movies speaks to the longevity and memorability of the Transformers movies - other than Optimus or Bumblebee, most people will have seen this film and then completely forget. A few people barely even acknowledged it as a Transformer.

 

Oh my good the poor teacher xD Struggling so hard to convince the students that it was not a transformer lol xD

 

This was a prank sprung on unsuspecting gallery goers. Do you think they were all going to be massive Transformers fans and knew every name? HOW DARE THEY!   A few of them were also seniors, not exactly the target audience, eh?

It was simply a marketing tool used to tie in with the theme of ''Rethink Your Past'' and the whole history of Transformers. Hell, if anything, it's told people about the movie that perhaps never knew about it.

Maybe, just would be more effective if it was a more obvious situation. A Transformer who actually looked like he could Transform into a ship OR a more recogniseable Transformers OR a Transformer that will appear in TLK - may have worked better in promoting the new movie. I'm remarking based on that as i've done some marketing before and actually enjoyed the more obvious G1 Transformers they used for the marketing of TF;2007.

Seeing Ironhide here will only resonate with the old TF movie fans - then again, the main TF fans you would find in an art gallery would either be kids on a field trip or young adults/adults who remember the previous movies.

 

It's just a prank, bro.
