Eww. WTF? Why on Earth would they make it be anything akin to GoT? (I'm sure it won't be directly comparable, but they shouldn't take any inspiration whatsoever from GoT in any shape or form.) Can we get someone competent to run WBD and DC as well as the DCU? PLEASE.

I wouldn't read to much into that. I think GoT has just been a common thing to use as part of an elevator pitch for just about every show of the past decade that some level of politics or fantasy to it.

Fair enough. I still think this whole thing is a bad idea, however. Gal Gadot was a fine Wonder Woman, not her fault that 84 was a terrible movie, full of terrible ideas.

I don't even read/watch that stuff and I know what you're talking about. He *still* hasn't finished the friggin' book?!

Yeah, there's some speculation they're doing a show so they can put some distance from Gadot's WW for whenever they cast their new actress for their reboot.

I think he's made his money and just doesn't care anymore. I have to wonder if HBO had a hand in it, as well. "Look, this is the ending we have. You can't write a better one, because people will want it and we're not doing it, now." "Okay. Lemme count all this money you just gave me..."

Ah. That makes sense, then. Still, I think they're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. I think the DCU could've been course-corrected via The Flash and they could've cut out all of the unwanted parts of the Snyderverse while fixing everything else.

Prequels seem to be all the rage these days, because studios just can't accept they made crap and want to try keeping them on life support for some reason despite all the money thrown at them.

I heard through the grapevine that he actually WANTED to go a similar route to what happened in the show, but when the overwhelmingly negative reception went down, he dug his heels in and decided 'fuck it' for the same reasons you outline that he's made his money and doesn't give a shit anymore.

Especially since we know the show writers phoned in S8 because they had the Star Wars thing lined up and managed to screw EVERYTHING up on all fronts as a result.

    Interesting.

That may be so but from what I know of the books (haven't actually read them), they contain two very important characters that later seasons of GOT didn't have that would make the ending go about in a very different way even if he did plan on doing something similar.

The show runners also cut a lot of content from the book and changed things. They left out major characters as well. Like Lady stone heart. Katelyn Stark brought back to life with an undead appearance going on a revenge spree killing those responsible for the Red Wedding. It wasn’t Aryia in a Mary sue killing spree. It was her mother. The fifth through 8 seasons were basically watching the cliff notes version of the book which had more details and more characters. They cut out a lot of content. While many events may have ended similarly the book version would have been written better and made more sense

Hmm. This is likely a pass for me. If I want Amazons without Diana I can watch/read any number of shows/books based on Greek myths over the years.

Personally I wouldn't mind if it could spotlight some Amazons original to the comics.

The recent Wonder Woman Historia book would also be a good thing if they wanted a comic to pull from. Though I'm afraid they'd used New 52.

I mean, I do hope people enjoy it and it's successful. Ideally I'd want this iteration of a DC shared universe to be successful even if I skip stuff I'm not interested in because that way stuff I will enjoy becomes more likely to get made. I'm just pretty sure that I won't be bothering with this particular project unless I hear some exceptionally positive word of mouth once it's released.

We could see Greek gods and Amazons.

If they use the comic below it could be awesome.

Someone got a snapshot of the title designs they were using during the conference they announced all this. Probably mostly just placeholders.

You can't praise a DeConnick comic here, don't you know that?

Seeing this makes me worry that these will all be lighthearted shows. I mean the title card for “The Brave and The Bold” just looks so… campy, and it’s a Batman movie.

Don’t get me wrong. I grew up watching The Brave and The Bold. It played a huge role in introducing me to the DC universe before I started BTAS and TJLA. But I’m not sure if it works in movie form. I’m not sure if audiences are really or willing to see a campy Batman again, especially when we just got what some consider the best Batman movie ever in The Batman.

It feels like James Gunn is trying to make these all James Gunn movies, and I don’t think that works because while this needs an overhead figure, not every DC character is made for the tone of GOTG/SS.
