I had a pre-order from Target for Warpath, but then found one in store, but they shipped him THAT DAY before I could cancel him. I am about to go return the extra when I discovered that there is a packaging variation for him. Not sure how widespread, but thought I'd document it for reference. And maybe those of you that are more into the beast figures can keep an eye out and see if its all figures or just him.

1st difference: one has a printed cardboard hang tab, the other has your typical clear plastic

2nd difference: one has his arms tied flat (sideways) to the cardboard (this is the cardboard hang tab one), the other has holes cut so the overhanging part can go into the tray.

I have read about it and seen a few pics but your comparison pics just what we needed to confirm this variant.

 

This has been posted before in other threads. Some Deluxes have clear tags, where others have the cardboard tags. No other class size has that.

 

Dammit, now I have to get doubles of these figures.

I'm kidding.

The Warpath with the phallic hanger tab has has arm closed off to the world. The one without the hanger is accepting of others and open to new life experiences.

 

I noticed that on my warpath a few weeks back when I picked it up at target. I just thought it was different cuz warpath isn't an animal former

 

The cardboard tags almost certainly have to be the "updated" version. Because the goal is to minimize plastic, which a plastic tag wouldn't accomplish. The other three wouldn't have the tag because Core's hang by their card and Voyagers/Leaders don't hang on pegs.

The cardboard faction symbol hanger has the clear plastic hanger glued to the back to give a bit of rigidity to the hanger. It's not just cardboard only. I believe the cardboard faction hangers are the very first set of production wave that Hasbro produced. I have only seen the cardboard hanger deluxe figures once in store when I picked them up back on Jan 1st but at Target and Walmart stores they all have clear plastic hangers. But is this a running change or just a one shot. I guess only time will tell with further deluxe releases.

 

I absolutely hate the change! I like plastic tabs un touched/not pulled out. There is NO way to stack these without issues. I also hate the look and I especially hate the ties!

But I like the old packaging quite a bit.

 

just a guess but is it possible its just where the packagingis being made? perhaps some made at 1 facility and other somewhere else?

I just rip them out to stack the boxes, but I also open them to do this. my figures are unboxed but I keep the boxes

 

Neat. I’ll check the pegwarming deluxes in my area. So far LOTS of Kingdom deluxes in NYC Targets.

I would speculate the other way around, for the same reason: they want to reduce plastic, designed a cardboard hanger, then changed it to plastic once the cardboard proved too flimsy to hold the figures on a peg.
