Okay, I've got my Pacific Rim, I've got my Godzilla, let's crossover already. Fuck continuity, just give us the Big G and robots teaming up against aliens and shit, be like that Godzilla/Jet Jaguar vs Megalon/Gigan shit all over again except better, hot damn.

If it was just down to the humans then I'd have to go Pacific Rim. Lots of characters they never got into but it felt like the Russian team seems cool, the Chinese team seems cool, lots of characters I wanted to know more about.

With Godzilla the only human I was really interested in was Ken Watanabe's character so I'm glad they gave him all the cool lines. Characters like heart of gold solider, wife/nurse, their uninteresting kid just felt too generic to be interesting thought out characters.

I think Pacific Rim is the far superior movie, but then again I'm also heavily biased as the whole 'giant monster' movie thing just doesn't grab me when it's JUST about the giant monster.

Plus, even with the whole 'end of the world' thing going on, PR knew the entire premise was pretty silly (for all the awesome that were Jeagers, simply building giant robots to punch the shit out of godzilla knockoffs is hilariously impractical compared to say; coastal defense guns as large as those things Germany used back in WWII or something) and just rolled with it because it was just a fun romp. Every time a godzilla movie shows up, it just feels stale with how 'serious' it gets when the giant lizard shows up even though AFAIK the latest movie even acknowledges that this isn't the first time they've had to deal with him.

Someone please get on the phone with Del Toro and tell him to make a crossover. Jaeger's and Godzilla kicking butt back to back.

ehh honestly, i do not want to see that. it'd feel totally out of place, in both universes, and godzilla never loses.

I thought Godzilla died in the 1998 version, then baby-zilla popped out?

Then again I don't remember much about that film other than one of my favorite childhood toys was the 'All-Terrain Attack Vehicle' humvee which somehow still has all its parts sans one missile (out of eight total)

Baby, he got defeated in Godzilla vs Mothra, died in Godzilla vs Destoroyah, needed help against Ghidorah in like three films and Mechagodzilla as well.

And of course, Godzilla died in, bada bing, the original.

Yah, his ass died and then Zilla Jr went on to star in a quite delightful cartoon series.

However, most people do not consider this incarnation a proper Godzilla, the actual company Toho included, due to him being a much weaker creature than a grand majority of Kaiju. So they renamed him Zilla, since he's not worthy of the God part.

While Godzilla was great, Pacific Rim was near perfect.

I loved both of the Hollywood Kaiju Slugfests.

Pacific Rim was one of the most fun movies ever but Godzilla...That was something on a whole 'nother level...especially Bryan Cranston. Not many movies have characters that give me feels like that.

I agree in the way that Pacific Rim did everything I wanted and expected and did it well.

Godzilla tried to be more serious and grounded in reality. It succeeded in a way, but the best cast member was gone too early, leaving us with blank slate soldier and gaping jaw scientist who did nothing but gape his jaw.

I love how we could argue for both ways but in the end WB and Legendary pictures win.
