Went to my Facebook Account as usual and I follow Legendary Pictures for any news for Pacific Rim and Godzilla; they gave today a teaser of a monster attacking San Francisco. They gave the name only " BREAKING NEWS: KAIJU ATTACK". This is the reason why I made this Thread, hard to figure it out and you coudn't put it to the Main Threads for Godzilla and Pacific Rim. The images are breaking constantly, the monster is fully seen at 41 seconds tied to an aircraft carrier, and is hard to figure it out. Because there is no name nor date of the teaser can't figure which movie is this teaser for. HOWEVER, the monster does roar and it sound like Godzilla, but then again Pacific Rim is a tribute to many stuff Japan makes, including Kaiju and Giant Robots. See it for yourself and come to your own conclusions. My Bet Pacific Rim. Yeah Official; Pacific Rim, AND IF THIS MOVIE DOES GREAT, I WANT THAT MONSTER FIGHTING THE BIG G! I'm assuming Pacific Rim. I don't think they've even cast the new Godzilla movie, let alone have any footage for a teaser.
Now that is sweet. My guess is for Godzilla. It it was for Pacific Rim, you'd think they might try to include more of the "we're super sci-fi advance with 300 foot mechs at our disposal"-angle. Also, the male news reporter sound an awful lot like David Kaye. That footage may or may not even be used in the final film, if they don't want. Consider the first teaser for Transformers with the Mars Rover. A 2 minute teaser with like, 8 seconds of it being used in the final film. Not to mention that this kind of teaser doesn't star any main actors; it'd be perfect for a teaser trailer. "We don't have any footage from the final cut yet? That's cool. We have this cool news report teaser we could use. It doesn't have any of the main cast and it doesn't reveal anything that the fans don't already know. It'd be perfect for a teaser. It'll show brief clips and stuff."
But again, just because they haven't started filming doesn't mean they can't have a teaser, especially one as vague as this. Pre-production has been well under way for a while, and Godzilla is the perfect film to have these kinds of vague promotions. Makes sense that they could have made several of these teasers during pre-production, just to test out the visual effects, get the feel of the movie, and of course, to show the audience something because they haven't started filming yet. But if it's for Pacific Rim, if they wanted, this clip is how they could start the movie. You know, show the clip and then go on to explain "...and it was because of this incident, and several others after it, that the goverment and military teamed up to create the "Pacific Rim Project" (or whatever)". A quick way to set up the origin of the events and then get straight to the story.
Comingsoon.net apparently confirms it as for Pacific Rim. One of Pacific Rim's Kaiju Revealed in 'Attack' Video! - ComingSoon.net Technically, principal photography for Transformers began in April 2006, while the teaser was first released late June 2006. But your point still stands, regardless. Principal photography had nothing to do with the creation of the teaser trailer. They had probably already started making the teaser months before they started filming for the movie.
I can't wait for this movie! I'd prefer a Godzilla teaser over this Pacific Rim teaser but this ain't bad. That monster at 0:41 looks like Zilla (the American 1998 Godzilla) but some of his inner bones are exposed.
Sounds NOTHING like Godzilla. I'm really looking forward to Pacific Rim, but I hope this teaser isn't what the film will look like.
Also, it seems that it is indeed David Kaye in the news report. He posted the link on his Facebook page saying "New trailer vo for Kaiju Attack". AWESOME.
I'm just excited that there are two giant monster movies coming out. Never in my life thought I'd see the day.
Well, 1997-1998 brought us The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and Mighty Joe Young. Which for some of us, at least, was awesome. Moreso prior to Godzilla's release though... But yeah, I agree with you.
