Well folks it's official. Pacific Rim 2 starts filming in the Fall of 2015, with an already announced April 7 2017 release date.... Here is the teaser - "It’s long been speculated that stars Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi would likely be among the actors returning from the first film, with some of its choice supporting players onboard as well (Perlman perhaps?). However, this is the first time del Toro has hinted that Pacific Rim 2 will feature a cliffhanger leading directly into a proposed third film." Furthermore, del Toro has once again teased what fans can expect from the movie. Here’s what he had to say: “Some of your favorite characters come back, some others don’t because we have decided that we’re going to shoot ambitiously and say ‘Let’s hope we have three movies,’ so some characters come in at the end of the second, hoping that it will ramp up on the third one.” And it looks like it's damn close to confirmed that allot of the 2nd Movie will focus on the Alien Kauji homeworld. ‘Pacific Rim 2′ Filming in Fall 2015; Plans for ‘Pacific Rim 3′ in Place
Ooh, the classic trilogy structure... I'm rock hard for this. If anyone can do it right, it's Guillermo.
Stacker coming back Yoda-style through the Drift would be fucking amazing and so obviously will be happening. Because Stacker Pentecost, bitches.
Points awarded for spelling it (well, conracting it) right. Points deducted for the improper use of quotations and even saying it in the first place.
It's good to be getting news about the sequel, and I realize that it's a common aspect of trilogies, but I REALLY wish they weren't making this second movie as just a ramp into the third one. I would much rather them make a sequel that can stan on it's own. Especially if they don't end-up getting a third movie green-lit.
It's not "just" a ramp, it's simply going to leave off for a thrid one Is Empire Strikes Back "just" a ramp into ROTJ?
