for those of you who did the mod, how do you shave off the bits i circled? i don’t have a lot of tools up here at college but i have a multifunction tool and a set of nippers

and for @JohnnyGundam how did you cut the hinges for the parts forming aspect? the hinges are almost impossible to get at with all the plastic around it

Your site seems really confusing..... there's no way to actually make an account, yet there is a way to log in. also doesn't mention anything about shipping either. Any help on that?

You have to take your time with it. I only used a exacto knife and gunpla god hand nippers to cut away at the plastic. You just have to be patient. For the hinges, i cut into them with the exscto knife straight to the pin. The hinges are thick so you have to take your time until you see the metal pin, then you have to make sure you cut enough material out to pull them off the pin, but not so much that they do not go back on

I have done one part of the chest already. The left (his right) chest window is the modified one and the right is the stock one. I don’t really like this kind of parts forming but the look that it is already giving is amazing! Also the parts you remove from under the chest can fit in the backpack and seems to stay so far.

Thank you @JohnnyGundam for sharing this!

Not a bad idea hiding those pieces! Seeing your pic tho and many others I just want to address another tip for you guys. The red pieces connected to the fuel tanks is supposed to connect to the pack of the wheel wells, it doesnt peg in, just rests in. But i have seen people not do it and have trouble with the solidity of the back pack, and not having the hinges arranged as such to allow it to sit in there might be the issue.

due to my lack of modding experience and the fact i only have these tools available to me at school i’m going to pause doing the mod for now so i don’t horribly mess something up (even though i think i might have). anyone who has done the mod and is willing to give me a complete step by step or even do it for me i’d be more than happy. just send me a PM because this mod makes a fantastic figure into an incredible one

    So,
are there any chest fixes/ideas for this guy that don't involve cutting things? I swear I saw some short vid on TransFans or DaimChoc where the dude just adjusts tabs and it looks better but digging through facebook until ~May takes forever. Is anyone able to help?

Has anyone ordered this guy from tf-direct? I'm asking because I ordered mine from there in July and to this day I have zero information about my order.

I have Takara Bumblebee and Bmb Barricade, but it’s so hard to keep up with what the best figures available are if trying to get a complete set in scale. Is there a single source of truth on all of the 1/30 scale figures?

For example, does Bmb Ironhide scale with this?

EDIT: just want to say @JohnnyGundam - you’re video was fantastic and the 1/30 scale reference point really helped me figure out how I should be thinking about mixing and matching Official and 3P molds for my MPM collection. Hopefully a perfected mod is found to minimize any shaving/cutting required.

    That's a very good question!!!
I think this OP scales best with mpm bee and barry in both alt and robot mode.
But ironhide is also for me a question: the bmb one looks good in robot (even if I have no idea if it scales right) but I've never seen a picture of BA OP and Bmb Ironhide in alt mode. Is here here so that csn maybe help?

Thank you man. I really wanted to clear it up for everyone cause I saw sobmany debates on what works and what doesn't that I felt I needed to figure it out and share my findings. As for Ironhide do not bother. The official irohide has too man problems, requiring the DNA upgrade kit and I believe for 1/30 scale he is too small. The BMB ironhide is based on the official and while it is upscaled, the small adjustments they made to the mold do not hold up and the figure is still inaccurate. If you want the one to get, wait for wei jaing to produce black apple's ironhide custom just like they did with this prime here. That thing looks gorgeous especially with the render chest being at the EXACT angle it needs to be and looks solid as a rock. Also another thing I want to point out why getting the official mpm even if they are in scale is a no go, is that most of the time, the diecast pieces are not treated so they tarnish, as seen with the mpm prime, bee, ironhide, and I know it will happen to that huge hunk of metal on the back of megatron's back. The KOs and upscale mod versions of the mpms have all their metal treated or painted, like the legendary toys prime, this wei jiang prime, and the legendary toys bee. I will say, barricade does not have this exposed metal problem, which is why I am fine with the official one of him, and I already have bee so not point in replacing him. This issue is what keeps me from purchasing mpm jazz even though he works perfectly in scale. His feet will tarness in a few weeks/months.

Have you made the full payment? For some reason, they did not notify me to complete my payment after my pre-order in June. I reached out to them about it a couple of weeks ago and they told me to complete my payment before the end of the month and I would get one from this batch. I completed my payment on Thursday and it shipped yesterday.

I was about to ask them the same thing. I no longer get email notifications when I need to do things like complete payments. The only reason I did it was because I saw from this thread that it was in stock again.
