No idea how a wash will turn out on that. Whatever you do, I'd make sure the material is absolutely saturated before applying a wash to it.

I ordered my current batch in Black High Definition Acrylate. It's supposed to be the closest material to cast ABS plastic, at least as smooth as FUD, and slightly cheaper (still expensive compared to strong & flexible). It'll be my first experience with the new material.

This one, just like I said. One in red, one in black, and neither one are capable of gripping the ball on the neck post. Offhand, it just looks like the bottom opening was just made too wide, so floor polish or super glue will not work at all...and before anyone asks, they also don't work on the Rook/Swindle mould, so I know I wasn't shipped THOSE ones by mistake.

Like I said, the faceplates themselves look great. The mounting post is a little long, but sandpaper will fix that lickety split. I am still in full support of this project (especially after Trent made a Small Foot face just after I mentioned that was the custom I was making). I figger, just make the bottom opening a little narrower and rely on the front opening to mount it...it was almost tight enough at the point where both openings meet, so maybe just make the whole bottom opening that wide.

Hm. I was worried about that with the larger balljoint. I've pulled the item pending revisions and re-testing.

Getting there. Getting worried about the details melting away with the paint though, even after thinning it.

Rule 63 is the internet rule that if there's a male version of a character, there's a female one out there, and visa versa.

Menace is a female Grimlock, using Grimlock's French Canadian name "La Menace", Scaffold is Bonecrusher, Thinktank is Cerebros and Vizar is Soundwave, using one of Soundwave's Italian names.

It's me having fun with the same kind of thought process that created MegaEmpress.

Oh damn that's a good idea.

Oh damn, again, that's a good idea too.

While we're all talking about new design ideas, how about a faceplate of Tracks that resembles his G1 toy? I always loved that faceplated look, a shame it's been consistently ignored.

I've actually been wondering when/if a third-party company will start offering new Titanmasters figures? Like, more posable little head-guys. It seems inevitable...

Well there have been several third-party targetmasters.

But not recently. I need ones for the new Titanmasters, and regular heads, too.

Well, after taking a week for a break, I'm back. Starting off with Construct-Bots Dead End. He was a commission, and I love that late G1/early G2 Euro Decepticon look he has going.

Hey Trent, when you submit meshes to Shapeways, do they have to be one solid mesh with no other geometry shoved in, or can they be made up of multiple meshes?

For a few years at least Shapeways has been able to work with collections of individual intersecting meshes, so long as they are all individually 'airtight' (all surfaces facing the right way, no missing or flipped polys). If the objects intersect, Shapeways treats it as the same object. So Dead End's head there is made up of a number of individual objects in case I need to move something around or swap out a part.

Oh man, yes! He looks great. Very Euro G1.5 indeed.

Hey, I just realized: how about Drift? I'd love to make a Headmaster of him...

Next up we have Mainframe, I'm using him as a trial run on making helmets for the larger Titans, and the version on the left is proportioned for the larger figures and is designed to work inside the helmet. The version on the right has the helmet integrated and is scaled for smaller Titans.

    Also, here's Tyrant Sparkle.
