I can't think of any bad animated figure. What are you talking about.

Transformers Animated, like the Bay films, had both a visual medium and a range of toys that polarized fans.

The "TF: - Animated" cartoon perhaps, due to the attention to detail and perhaps superior writing, had more divisions regarding the toys. As the toys closely resembled the animated visual style, they drew criticism. However, unlike similar toys with "strange" designs (beast wars, beast machines, Bay films, Japanese anime style), Animated figures couldn't really stand next to CHUG figures and/or be assimilated into such a collection (the others, arguably, could, as they were "futuristic" versions, still in the same "universe" as G1).

I was told that Animated got pulled at Hasbro, due to poor sales of the toys.

Hence, why I think they were complete @rse.

Animated got pulled so it wouldn't compete with the second movie. Secondly most of those figures were design marvels like shockwave for example. Heck, that's my chug shockwave just because it's so good.

According to my source (who apparently spoke to Hasbro staff about this), the line got canned due to poor sales. The kids didn't like the toys. I stand by my statement. That's not to say that the actual engineering or quality wasn't good, but the aesthetic simply wasn't attractive.

However, back to the topic; yes the faceplates are great. If only I could buy Shapeways outside the USA without the greedy markup by Shapeways on shipping....

Boombox's head is really close to a modern-era Prime face if the illustration is anything to go on. Once I get my hands on a larger scale figure that uses the snap-on helmet I'm planning on making a run of faces that are more focused around the 'face' part rather than the helmet, for switching out with your Primes and Blasters and Soundwaves and whatnot. He might fit in there.

In general, I pay attention to the requests and try and get as many as I can done, I have some other projects that need attention so things may be a little slower for the next two weeks, but I fully intend on reaching the 200 mark before Titans Return leaves the shelves to make way for the next thing (Which hopefully will be just as customizing friendly, fingers crossed)

Thanks guys for helping brighten a bad day. And thank you, Harley is adorable :) . Fun fact, she's a dachshund-yorkie mix, a "Dorkie", which is kind of perfect.

The more I think about it, Boombox might need both a face and a helmet to really work. TM Blaster and Soundwave would make a good basis for the body (Blaster's legs, Soundwave's chest) but neither has a helmet that would really work. The helmets are attached (with a one-sided pin, I think--nThe heads on their own are just too small for a leader class figure. Hmm...

I'll probably be trying out the hi-def acrylate soon. I notice in that pic of Dinobot that you can still see some layering artifacts up close. Can the acrylate be sanded like the FUD/FED material, or does it just tend to shred like WSF?

So I ordered a IDW Hardhead faceplate, since I prefer the IDW iteration of the character

Thing is, I ordered it in yellow plastic, since I thought I could paint the beige-ish gray and blue visor on while leaving the face parts yellow. Thing is, my previous experience with shapeways parts, the 3D-printed plastic tends to absob the paint overall, I only just now realized if I painted the beige gray parts, there's a chance it might bleed into the face part that I'd want to remain yellow.

Would that be the case, can anybody verify? Hoping I don't mess this up.

I just noticed the Stalker conversion kit isn't available in Black Hi-Def Acrylate. Is there a structural reason for this, an oversight, or is it just way too cost prohibitive?

I would try it and see what happens. If it bleeds, you can just saturate the piece in a base coat and then paint the whole thing.

I'm very much in love with these. I have another half dozen I have sitting in my cart right now.

Thank you so much for designing these!

    Thank you!

Started as the "Frosted Ultra Detail", primer, then hand painted using acrylics.

Sealed it with a spray satin clear coat.

PM me if you have any questions, but the reason it looks so damn good is because of the design.
