BEST THREAD EVER!
Please, oh please, let it be Barricade!!!
bumblebee AND barricade!
THIS! OMG, please let HA Barricade appear in this comic, it would make me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy!
I'm actually hoping for Soundwave.
I'm hoping for Skids and Mudflap!
Just kidding, there's no hope for those two.
You could use a HUD, like in Iron Man or Terminator.
Though, it reduces the reader's connectivity to the characters, because it makes them less human.
This. Soundwave would be truly awesome!
I'm hoping for one of the ugly bike sisters that came with Skids and Mudflap.
Or maybe not.
Note to self: Google Gary and Alphas to find out what this refers to.
Sweet! And yes, that would be quite cool.
Gotta admit, I am so stoked for the arrival of the Coneheads. Got my shipping notice from TFSource and now I’m checking my package tracking status every day and looking at shelf where my Decepticon Airwing will rest. I’ve not been this excited for a Transformer arrival in quite a while actually, it feels like the glory days of assembly my alternator collection have come back for a few fleeting moments. I don’t know if or when this buzz will ever come back after this, as there’s not much on the horizon I can justify purchasing. MP Roddy is too expensive in his Takara version, too ugly in his Hasbro one, MP10 is awesome looking but WAY too expense for me to drop cash on in the foreseeable future and aside from that only Leader Ironhide and HA Soundwave catch my eye. But those Coneheads…
…by the Lords of Kobol I’m excited for these things!
Looking forward to seeing Pics of the Polenicus AirWing in action. I’ll certainly be snapping shots of mine.
Re-enforcements from Remaluk!
When you post new work, let me know. I’m following your posts in the cool stuff thread, and your photography and effects continue to be top notch stuff. I’d love to see you post more fiction. ☺
Heh heh. I think I’ll re-do that last pic to add the Coneheads in when they arrive. I mean, they’ll be crying out for photography, so I may as well put it to good use.
Shit did indeed.
Wow! There’s a lot of love out there for the HA’s.
I can’t possibly spoil the story now can I?
Heh heh. I could put out one update that involved them walking up to Grimlock and accuse him of “bein’ a pusseh.”
Then another update than involved Wheeljack scraping what’s left of them off the walls…
Be careful what you wish for….
Yeah, the HUD thing is something that I’ve gone back and forth with. A HUD is an interface between user and system, but the Autobots are both user AND system. We’ve seen Jazz’s HUD, but it’s not actually a HUD as such. Jazz is a bit different from the other autobots in that respect, and that aspect of his backstory will be brought out later in the story.
Most of the other Autobots in OOTDL don’t have a HUD. They just “know” the information, that the HUD would otherwise tell them. So if a weapon is wired to their systems, they don’t have a HUD readout of the ammo, they just “know” how many shots they have left.
So, I'm finishing off the scripts for Season 4 (always had the outline and 80% of the dialogue, just gotta polish and update it a bit to account for the Coneheads, give them something meaningful to do in the larger arc.)
Also finally got hold of a nice big bookcase to showcase the cast. They've been boxed up since I moved, or hidden away, but now the guys are on display in the centre of my bedroom, fully armed and reminding me every day to get everything in place for Season 4. I might snap some pics for the collection thread later, it's the first time I've ever seen all the guys together like this in one room and in one display space!
So I've only been on this site for a few months now, and only became aware of this particular forum (and specifically this thread) about 1 1/2 months ago. So it was fortunate for me to be able to go through the whole thing without the painful wait between updates. I obviously haven't spent any time reading all the accolades you've gotten, so anything I say likely has been said many times over. Nonetheless, this strip is so unbelievably excellent that I felt compelled to pile on with additional praises.
Every single aspect of this is stunning. You photography skills, photo editing, writing, characterization, storytelling, etc. are all top notch. I was truly stunned that someone could even compose such a thing or that fan fiction like this even existed. I would award you "bays" like many others except that that would be an insult to you. He may have more skill than you in creating CGI explosions (though if we gave you his budget, who knows), but your talent in every other aspect of the creative process is light years beyond his.
Thank you for doing this. Thank you for putting in the kind of time and energy it takes to create something this impressive for no real reward other than the accolades of the anonymous masses. I look forward to the future of this strip. I wish I could be in "stasis lock" for the next three years so I could wake up and read another three seasons without having to wait!
Aww, thanks dude. Glad you're enjoying the story, and I just want to say again how grateful I am to everyone who's stuck with the story for the past three years or so, despite my awful update schedule and my woeful lack of participation in the community at times.
At present, I plan to start shooting updates for Season 4 in December. I've got the script ready to go and am building sets at present, going back my arts and crafts classes and re-discovering the joys of superglue and paint-smeared newspaper spread across a desk.
It's like I'm five years old again and it's awesome!
Bloody amazing! You tell a great tale dude, and with amazing images to match!
All Hail Megatron!
I've been following this on and off for the past year. If Shakespeare wrote Transformers, this would be it. IDW should hire you for their ongoing or at least pair you with James Roberts of Last Stand fame.
You are a true master of your art and I salute you, Sir!
first time I post in this but this is what I have to say so far.
music that could go with this comic: "5 Point Five"
Me Grimlock say: Is this a dagger me see before me? The handle toward Me Grimlock's hand? Come, let Me Grimlock clutch thee.
I need to stick thee hilt deep into Ravage's stupid face.
So, felt like I should probably stick my head up and say hi, just to prove that I've not yet been landed on by a giant cartoon foot or anything. In the last few months I've moved house (again) and my free time has been taken up with Exciting Secret Project (™) that hopefully I'll be able to say something about in the next few months. (If you never hear anything about this again, it's because Exciting Secret Project failed and I'm quietly burying the evidence.)
However, those things are now almost done and dusted, and so it's full steam ahead with the camera and GIMP. So:
I'd like to say a massive thanks to everyone who voted for OOTDL in the Funnies awards for Best Monolouge. I hope to get a short acceptance speech shot and GIMPED this week.
Secondly, I've started taking shots for the new season. It might be a few weeks before I get the first update out there as I'm experimenting with the look and feel of the new season, which I want to be a significant upgrade to the look and feel of the old one, and I also want to get a nice big buffer of strips built up so that I can keep a regular flow of content coming (yeah, I've said that before, I know)
However, I know that I've left this thread fallow for way too long so, in order to get some new Out Of The Dead Land content out there, I've done something a little different than usual.
I've got some back story for you.
Now, usually, I don't publish backstory this way, because I like to tell the backstory as part of the actual tale, and because the backstory can sometimes be a bit spoiler-iffic, but what follows isn't really about any one character, it's a bit more generic than that, and addresses the question:
What exactly are the Seekers, and why do they all look the same?
Below, you'll find a quick overview (edited for spoilers and brevity) of who the Seekers are as a group in the context of the Dead Land universe, where they came from, a little bit of their culture, and how the upcoming Season will portray them. Let me know if this is the kind of thing people would like to see more of, and I'll see if I can make it a regular feature.
Ooooooooooh... very intriguing about the Seekers. Can't wait to see how they're portrayed in the next season of Out of the Dead Land!
And congrats on winning Best Monologue!
Oh, good to see ya Coolhand! So, I'm a long-time lurker, read every single update to date, some as they come out, others I caught up on.
Anyway, I really like your explanation of the Seekers. It makes a lot of sense, and it just plan sounds good. Good work man! Can't wait to see how the story continues!
Interesting. The Seekers represent both a lost technology and an ancient order. This begs the question of who all the misc Seekers were in the first season of G1, and why no new sparks were chosen to fill the bodies. I'm very intrigued to see where this bit of retconing goes.
Ugh, 2 moves in a year? You're starting to sound like me! That's rough.
But how do you explain seeker body type upgrades?
