BW/BM and Animated. G1 is up there too, can't deny where it all started.

    RID=puke. Hated it.

If you mean TV series, I'm no expert so can't really comment. I've not been impressed by anything I've seen if I'm honest (save for some nostalgia for the original cartoon, but it was pretty awful, even by 1980s standards).

Toys? G1 definitely. Followed by the RID toys, they were good fun.

Comics? G1 (Marvel UK) to be precise.

    Japanese G1 is the best.
RID is good because it brought back the vehicles, after all those gooffy plastic animals.
TFA is a G1 wannabe fail. Good toys, though.
AEC trilogy is pure crap. I totally ignore it. Toy-wise, I only have Primus and Arcee.
    BW... great story, ugly toys.
BM is full of horrible toys, such a depressive ending to the US G1-BW timeline.

Movie is awesome, the toys are exactly what I was expecting after RID. Story? F*ck that, go watch some emo anime if you want that.

G1 is and always will be my favorite since I love the characters I grew up with, but as far as a well-written TV series, I have to go with Beast Wars. For the most part it had a pretty even amount of humor, action and grittiness without going too far overboard (of course there is 'The Low Road' and some of the stuff from Season 3 that got a little cartoony). Beast machines is also great IMO, though I realize it may have been a little too dark for some fan's tastes. I don't really care for the ending but overall I really enjoyed it. I haven't been able to stomach any of the other series, they're so awful.

If it's just cartoons, then from the movie onwards of G1 (including Rebirth and Japanese shows) is my favourite, followed by Armada.

Don't like Beast Wars aesthetically and two headed dragon Megatron was enough to put me off RiD.

Also don't like the aesthetics of Animated so haven't watched it.

Beast Wars/Machines, closely followed by Animated and RID. Least favorite is probably the Energon cartoon.

Tie between G1 and Animated for me. G1 for the nostalgia, Animated for simply being the best written TF series ever.

Animated...I'm also a G1 fan, but I didn't grow up with it, so I guess I just don't have that same level of affection for it as most. I did grow up with Beast Wars, but I'm not particularly fond of it.

    Nostalgia: Beast Wars
Writing and plot: tie-between BW and Animated
    Aesthetic: G1

And yet toy-wise, I mostly have Movie. I am so... conflicted.

My first Transformer was Armada Optimus. So I'd have to go with the Japanese Cybertron. Because the 1 thing I hated about the Armada Trilogy was that they overused the crappy title theme for EVERY thing of minor importance.
And the Transforming theme for Japanese Cybertron is awesome.
