Yes I know I work in one of them as an intern.

Yeah could be. But ILM menas more precised detailed work (not always though).

I think going to ILM would be extremely UNlikely. Too expensive for an entire TV series, when another studio's work would do just fine.

Its not a neccessary thing to do, but has the potential to be quite nifty.

Dude you have to be kidding me. TNG Seasons 1 and 2 were bloody awful.

And what was with Deanna's hairstyle and costume? Yeesh.

On vaugley related news... Anybody going to buy/play Star Trek: Legacy? My friend made all of the Federation ships in that game and was interviewed in PC Gamer about it :)

I think they should leave the original series alone. This is just another sham by paramount to milk money out of their fans ala Lucas.

I can't wait to play Legacy. It looks incredible!

    No, you said

Implying that fixing the FX would bring them up to the standards of the writing and acting.

If you saw the opening of First Contact, you have a good idea what to expect. A few hours of one Borg ship destroying every ship that comes near. Sounds about as exciting as watching someone sway flies. I prefer it left unseen.

I just saw the In a Mirror, Darkly 2-parter of Enterprise, having never really watched the show past the first couple of eps. I'll agree that the shots of the 'TOS Defiant' looked sweeeet; I was grinning like an idiot. So I'm kinda torn between "this is completely unnecessary" and "yeah, sure, I'll watch that." If I were hardcore enough of a fan to buy the series on DVD, I would only want the originals and not the spruced up ones though.

I happen to agree with this statement, but I would watch them. Maybe even buy them.

If they were affordable. As it is the OS dvd sets (here in Toronto at least) are over $180, each. Paramount severly overprices their dvd sets.

More details have been revealed here.

No plans for DVD releases right now, just putting the episodes in syndication.

While fans are upset over this, I fail to see why. These new CGI remastered for HD versions will be available eventually, but unlike Star Wars, TOS and all Trek series are available in their original form on DVD. So if you're against this you can still get the original.

I say bring it on! I've been hoping they would do this for years.

This is one dumb idea. So all the exterior space shots will be nice and modern but the interiors will still be made of gray plywood, upside down yoghurt pots and christmas tree lights. On top of that everyone will still be sporty those ridiculous costumes and hair styles.

Aren't they releasing the original untouched SW movies on DVD?

Yeah, but in non-anamorphic, unremastered condition, essentially as "bonus material" to the rerelease of the SEs.
