Very sad news. I never met him but I recognised his name instantly from his posts on the boards. My deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

I can't say that I knew him but if that much could be said about him he must of been a hell of a guy which is rare since many people are quick to be hostile to people these days.

This is the first time a loss as actually hit me hard and I didn't even know him

I never met the man or spoke with him, but my best wishes go out to his wife, and kids. He seemed like a good man, and a role model. My hope is that we can pull together in this community to offer what support we can to his family.

I didn't know Gary, but when browsing threads, if I saw his name beside a post I'd stop scrolling down the page just to read what he said. He came across as a very genuine, passionate and likable person.

I'll always remember that picture of him with Peter Cullen. My condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by many.

I made a donation last night. Given how many members there are here (not saying all will or have to donate), a little bit by many will certainly go a long way. I never met Gary (in person or even through this site), but it seemed like the right thing to do. I can't imagine what his wife and children are going through.

Thank you everyone for the continued support. Today has been nothing but a rollarcoaster and I don't know what is keeping me going. I am so confused with a million things coming at me and being given conflicting info I don't know what is the truth anymore. Again I must stress to MAKE A WILL and HAVE LIFE INSURANCE to anyone reading this. You have no idea what is going through my head right now. This is especially true to anyone who has a blended family. It would have made my situation so much easier and give me piece of mind right now. It may cost a bit to get this done but it will be PRICELESS in the event you pass away suddenly. Again thank you everyone, I wish Gary could have seen how loved he really was.

 

I didn't know Gary/Optimus Scourge at all (I'm not the most sociable type), so I can leave no words describing a good experience I had with him. After reading everything that has been said about him, though, I feel that I and anyone else on the boards who didn't interact with him are that much poorer for not having done so before his passing.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking as I read through this thread. My birthday is coming up on Tuesday and I had budgeted money to buy myself a hard-to-find figure that I wanted. I think that not totally insubstantial sum would be put to better use by donating it.

It's always tragic when one so young dies. I never knew him, but I lost my 23-year-old brother in January, so I know something of what his family is going through right now.

RIP, Gary. May you always be in our memories.
