Great update for the movie figure. Just screams POWER, custom truck shows, and just plain current model design over a 1970's one.

 

Its not so much a matter of the choice of vehicle that is chosen. But the fact that the vehicle does exist on earth and not the kind that's limited to only one on the road.

Jazz - Random Racing Porsche (Markings are not subtle but not limited to only one car having them)
Mirage - Random F1 Racer (Not subtle when off track)
Sunstreaker - Plain Yellow Lambo
Sideswipe - Plain Red Lambo
Tracks - Blue Corvette with a Pontiac Firebird marking on hood. (not very subtle)

So the issue is more so when the vehicles have very distinguishable markings. Granted if this took place in California... If they were all a Prius then it would be the ultimate disguise. However if the Prius had flames on it... Well even humans would be raising eyebrows haha

 

Transformers are supposed to be fun. you know, live action movie or not, like I mentioned in my post above, TF: Cybertron designs are the prefect example of how transformers core designs have evolved with each iteration of the franchise. So, new and souped up designs of alt modes for Prime are not too much of a surprise, really. Hello!? From the original G1 to Cybertron to the movies, Prime's look has always evolved. So quit yer yappin, sonny!

Compared to this monstrosity, the G1 bots were subtle. This "design" is just an eye sore. So much tacked on fiberglass, useless, superficial body modifications that serve absolutely no purpose what so ever...Let's not even get into the garish, flamboyant paint job which only has a place in Japanese auto shows.

My main problem with this is it contradicts the characters. Prime valued discretion, avoiding contact, and preventing interference with the humans as much as possible so as to allow them to live their lives without being in fear of giant robots waging their war on their planet.

Everything just screams, "WE'RE HERE, WE'RE THE GOOD GUYS. CHECK OUT THE PAINT JOB HUMANS, NOT ONLY ARE WE YOUR SAVIORS, BUT WE'VE GOT 3 COATS OF GLOSS OVER 6 COATS OF METALLIC FLAKE. DID I MENTION THE CHROME? DON'T THINK I'LL BE DEFENDING YOUR ASSES THOUGH, THIS CUSTOM WORK COST MUCHO ENERGON, CAN'T AFFORD TO SCRATCH THE PAINT! I GOT AN AUTO SHOW TO BE AT IN HALF AN HOUR, YOU GUYS CAN DEAL WITH MEGATRON ON YOUR OWN, I'VE GOT 3 HALF NAKED JAPANESE GIRLS WAITING TO LEAN ON ME FOR A PHOTO OP...LATER"

Sure, the other bots weren't as concerned, or as careful in terms of their interactions, but this just takes everything I loved about Prime, the simple lines, coherent shape language, carefully crafted color palette, and just throws it out the window.

It's at the point where I believe that if something like this is acceptable to you, you lack the ability to differentiate between cinema and a 3 hour toy commercial.

Yes. THIS. This design is the sexiness, IMO. Can't wait to see the accompanying bot mode! Loving all the vehicles so far.
Any hate is hilarious. Go watch whatever iteration of the franchise you prefer, and leave those of us who like this one alone! Kthxbye!

 

Whether intentional or not, it looks very TF Prime influenced.

Will be interested to see what the bot mode looks like, and if it'll be bigger than the previous design.

First impression: da hell is that?

But now I'm really digging it and am excited by what the botmode could look like. In fact, this, the Veyron and the Stingray make for a very interesting looking Autobot team. The Teams in the first three are a bit boring by comparison. Though the Twins were... not the greatest their altmodes were nice variety amongst the team of supercars.

These guys feel more dynamic and colourful.

 

That truck would make a bad ass Motor master if it was black & purple.

This not much of a new look... still a long-nose truck, still mostly blue with red flames. It's a variation of the old design, much like BB stays a yellow camaro with black stripes in all the movies. A NEW design would be, I dunno... a different color scheme, a flat-nose truck, a monster truck...

 

Well, then you're just shoving your opinion on everybody.

In my opinion, this is awesome. I'm not gonna call any movie bad just because one thing looks different from other versions.

 

actually a different truck, would still be a new design.

 

And they kept the stupid flames. *sigh*
