Optimus with a bull bar and these new colors will go great with 4x4 Camaro bee. It is reminding me a bit of the g2 comic with the design.

I wonder if they will decide to make him taller in this movie. 16' felt a bit short

You see this and you realise how easy it would've been for them to just live action the classic G1 alts and bot modes far more true to form from the start instead of reinventing the wheel.

But no. Car showroom salesman directorship coupled with the ILM obsession with making every sci-fi design look over-busy and insect-like kicked in, I guess, as always.

Cue 10+ years of cluttered designs to showcase 1,000,000 moving parts as the franchise moved farther and farther away from telling a good story.

I'm not a huge fan of BW, but let's hope this runs with some of the more positive improvements started with the last one.

I’m glad that the thread title specified “vehicle mode,” so that I didn’t walk in expecting shots of this Optimus just sitting around in chairs waiting for his next scene.

I agree completely, but I think we are in the clear in regards to designs that look like they would crumble under their own weight.

Half the reasons for the changes originally were creative choices for immersion (character size concern was one of them). That latter part pretty much applies for only the 1st and maybe 2nd movie. I think the rest were ok with mass shifting (Evasion Optimus is a more blatant example). They'll probably do it again if they feel the robot sizes aren't good enough.

It's definitely still the Freightliner. It's just driven through a tuning shop and some stuff has stuck - ridiculous sun visors, some scoop looking things on the front doors, odd fairing panels at the back near the smoke stacks, and humongous bullbars. Looks kinda menacing.

Also has bizarrely tall rear frame rails with an unusably high fifth wheel perched on top. Not sure the reason for that, maybe just to add some more bulk to the back end and more visible blue? Who knows. Means if he does pull a trailer it'll have to be a modified taller one, similar to the one on the original Fast and Furious that cars could drive under.

Throws a bone to the toy designers I guess. Now we can all say the inevitable chunky kibbly rear ends are movie accurate! :)

I'm actualy wondering if these alt mode changes didn't come from the toy designers themselves, because Bumblebee apparently has an Off Road modification kit he wears later in the movie and to me that just screams "Hasbro toy idea passed on to the movie staff"

You're probably right. Definitely gonna make cooler looking toys.

Yeah, if you watch the end of Bumblebee, you see how long and thin the truck bed looks in that. There was no way any toy can translate that. I guess they could make the legs unfold into long panels, but that's so uninteresting.

When I first saw this, I started thinking about Machine Wars Optimus. He has a similar stripe (but not the same)

Another difference I notice between both trucks is the difference in cargo bed sizes, The previous one had way longer bed than the new one, I think it was wider as well.

Looks amazing. There is no way he is going to be Bumblebee movie size, imagine how dumb it would look if that guy is 16 feet tall?

Probably 25 to 30 feet in the city.

You know I remember when the first shots of Optimus in robot mode for the first transformers movie leaked. Man what a time that was. A live transformers movie.

crazy how the time goes by.

It's so funny because I'm getting the same excitement I did back when the 07 movie was getting leaked photos, minus one exception. There is no sinking feeling accompanying the excitement. As far as I'm concerned this is the second live action Transformers movie, with Bumblebee being the first..
