I wish Megatron was in this movie.

 

Pretty much exactly what I imagined, give or take a few minor details.

I wish Megatron was in the movie for the simple reason Paramount and the fandom can finally put the "reboot or Bayverse" arguments and decisions to rest.

 

Generally I do prefer the long-nosed trucks, but this is definitely one badass vehicle mode. I'm excited to see the bot mode!

 

New truck mode

 

I wonder if he'll pull the trailer he had at the end of Bumblebee. That's the sort of thing I feel will just end up disappearing (no double meaning intended, lol) between movies without explanation, but it would be cool if they worked it into the storyline. Like I mentioned in another thread, maybe that trailer is his escape pod in disguise, or maybe it's some sort of DOTM-esque weapons platform. Or maybe we'll just see it sitting in the background of their headquarters or something.

On an unrelated note, I hope the CGI model for Optimus remembers to include the dual rear tires. That's something very few Optimus designs incorporate in robot mode, and it's always sort of a pet peeve of mine.

That crossed my mind too...that vehicle sold a few months ago, probably during the time they were getting this prop ready. It's definitely not out of the question. That being said, I'm guessing this particular model of Freightliner isn't terribly hard to come by.

 

Hey, the smokestacks are actually curved this time (like BB Movie Prime's robot mode)! Overall, I really dig it. I'm sure most of the changes were to sell more toys, but I still think it looks cool.

Yeah this definitely isn't just straight up G1. That's why I'm really liking this. Stylized G1 is my favorite aesthetic.

 

Ay they kept the Freightliner from BB! I have always said that truck perfectly encapsulated what I wanted Prime's vehicle mode to look like in real life if we're translating a mushy unbranded truck from the cartoons into live-action.

There are some small minute changes, most of which I'm pretty okay or whatever on. The front bumper is smaller and the back is thicker and shorter - don't really care about that. The front grill guard is cool I guess. Silver stripes remind me of IDW Prime, but I also got IDW Prime vibes from the original BB design so I think it homages that even more. Really, the only problem I have are those weird-ass silver panels on the side of the truck; they just look so arbitrary and out of place. I know the shoulders in robot mode are going to be armored or something like that, but how are two puny silver panels supposed to protect you against a fusion cannon that can link up with a black hole?

Looks good! Hopefully they stick pretty close to the BB movie designs for the returning bots. I'm still very much hoping Wheeljack is in this.
