I couldn't resist the 'Optimus Prime for President' t-shirt at Hot Topic this evening. But, it got me thinking two things...
1) Lots of us, particularly Botcon attenders, should buy these shirts, and then gather outside with "Prime in '08" signs and such. Say, Sunday afternoon at Botcon.

2) Who would Prime's running mate be? Ultra Magnus falls apart at the drop of a hat, Bumblebee is inexperienced, Ironhide doesn't have an original thought in his CPU, and Grimlock would eat the press. My pick? Silverbolt. He's shown leadership, diplomacy, and can bring in the 'jet' vote. He's not a political insider or one of Prime's typical 'cronies,' and he knows both his history and military tactics.

Hot Rod. That way he could get Prime killed and become President. Just like back in '86.

 

I would say Jazz. He was his second in command and he has experience leading.

Ironhide could be secretary of defense, and Wheeljack secretary of state.

 

I'd vote for him. I'd expatriate from Australia, obtain US citizenship the legal way, and register to vote Optimus Prime in as the President.

On the proviso I get to have Ultra Magnus as the next Australian Prime Minister.

 

I've been working on a "Megatron for President" story for awhile now...this election cycle I'll finish it, I think. But, I'd say that Prime wouldn't want to interfere too much in the politics of this planet, really.

Still, going with the fun idea of the thread, Jazz would be his...Chief of Staff? For vice president, Dashiel Fariborne, whose name I probably just hideously misspelled.

For this reason, Grimlock, obv.

 

Comic Prowl would make a good VP as well.

 

I say Prowl would be a good running mate for Prime.

I say Wheelie. Now hear me out. If Wheelie is Vice President then Prime has no worries about assassination attempts since they are too busy trying to kill Wheelie instead.

 

Yeah, but a female president would be unthinkable. AH HA HA HA HA HA HA!! Ha.  

 

If Optimus is running for president, I'd say the 'bot who should be vice president ought to be Prowl... no wait, Prowl would be better off as Secretary of Defense or maybe be part of Homeland Security. Um... how about Jetfire?

 

I feel a Vice President or other Deputy should be a foil to the one they're with. So as a foil to Optimus's statesmanship and calm, collected demeanor I think Jazz, with his easy and affable attitude and nature would be a good VP.

 

I'd vote for Optimus Prime and Jazz for reasons stated above.

 

Jazz for VP, Jazz's pretender shell for president.
