I remember in that scene when Sam, Simmonds and Dutch were leaving from their meeting with the Russians cosmonauts, when Sam called Mearing to inform her that this whole thing was a setup from the beginning and that the Decepticons were coming after Sentinel. He also noted that Prime is on it's way and he's 10 minutes behind. How did Sentinel managed to be earlier in that Highway pursuit and be in the city, when he was at the meeting with Optimus and I assume both of the left at the same time. Unless Optimus was elsewhere that he hasn't mentioned. Any one knows?

    Never explained in the movie.

In the novel Optimus was at a meeting with the president.

I'm guessing sentinel might have secretly ditched prime and was already Heading back to nest when Sam met up with him.

From the sound of it, DOTM was better as a book than a movie.

It seems so much of the time, these 'novels' people speak of, act as the corks to the leaks in the film regading plot details.

Yep, every movie has this problem. Prime disappears for extended periods of time in every movie. You can blame the budget, editing, and wanting to focus on other overly long action sequences.

Maybe he was having a serious "discussion" with the Arcee Twins. ;)  Which also explains why they are not in the movie. :p

You know, I've often sat in traffic and thought, "If my car were a transformer, he could just transform and walk thru traffic no problem. I wish my car were a transformer..."

Yeah, they really don't know what to do with Prime. They made him this super capable warrior who can literally end a fight within seconds, so they keep writing him 'out' for part of the movie until it's time to end the fight. :-/

Optimus prime is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.

I'd suspect the Rosenbauer Panther fire truck is designed to be faster than a Peterbilt 379 pulling with a mahoosive trailer with weapons and jet packs...

I've been a fan of Peter David since the earliest days of his run on "The Incredible Hulk" and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him at several conventions back in the '90s but I still thought his novelization of TF:D otM was pretty bad.
