I was watching the movie for the 4th time and noticed something very interesting but welcome:

Optimus actually uses the rocket boosters during the battle.

He engages them when he leaps off of Grimlock's back and yells "I'll kill you!" at the drone he's attacking.

Thought I'd point this out because one of rhe few real gripes I had with the movie was that the jet boosters seemed to come out of nowhere. Seeing them used in battle made me feel slightly better about their inclusion and role in the ending.

Oh sweet! I know the exact part you're talking about, and I'm planning on seeing it again this afternoon, so I'll definitely look out for the rocket boosters right there.

They all could fly the whole time I don't see why no one remembers the first movie or when any of the guys come to Earth from space.

That was Protoform mode, which they all have. They would lose their earth alt modes if they transformed into protoform mode. Optimus Jet boots were from the knight upgrade.

I am so upset that after six showings, I didn't realize that. It was all thanks to Goldenclaw pointing it out in another thread that when I went yesterday, I saw it good and clear and couldn't un-see it.

Part of the knight upgrade or that new truck he scanned had some serious aftermarket accessories on it.

Based on Josh Nizzi's concept art, It's part of the Silver Knight Upgrade. Damn shame that they did use the full upgrade in the movie.

is flying the same as falling?

plus.. i think that protoform concept sucked from the beginning.. i really don't understand the need for it. it just doesn't make any sense to me.. at all.

I have to agree with that. The protoforms were all lanky and skeletal. Where did all the extra bulk come from?

Huh, wow that's pretty cool! I still wish they could have been used more beforehand but it's still a nice little detail.
