Does anyone else dislike the fact that Optimus has always been shown to get his ass handed to him by the Decepticons. Knockout knocking him out with his staff, Megatron dragging him every time they fight each other (with the exception of Orion Pax part 3), Dreadwing handing his ass to him, and even Starscream beat him into the ground even if he had the Apex armor on. Other than vehicons, Optimus has never really had a decisive victory against any con. Him beating on Megatron for a brief moment in One shall Fall doesn't really even count, so he's only beaten Megatron once, and that again was in Orion Pax part 3. Every other Autobot has been shown beating up their rivals, and Arcee was even able to knock Megatron off of his feet, so why not give the leader of the Autobots that same "skill" if you will? I have yet to see the day when Optimus goes up against Soundwave... But how do the rest of you feel about this?

 

Perfectly fine. Optimus generally loses only when the foe is just as powerful as him, such as Megs or ApexScreamer or employs pragmatic tricks like Airachnid and Knock-Out.

Besides, considering he's the only one who can even come close to beating Megs, who hands the other Autobots their asses with ease, as well as lasting as long as he did against the Unicron avatars, he has proven himself the most efficient Autobot in combat. Only Bulkhead can match Prime in terms of power, but he lacks the ability to take on Megatron.

 

He outsmarted Dreadwing twice.

I usually don't mind him being defeated. The show acts as if he's perfect enough as it is.

 

I have similar thoughts every now and again. I think because Megatron honed his skills in the Pits of Kaon that it gives him an advantage in hand to hand combat and he doesn't hold back his emotions. I often wonder what would happen if Optimus didn't leave his emotions in check and let it all go during one of those fights, especially against Megatron.

 

Then we'd have Movie Optimus in the Prime verse.  

 

I did think the same thing after I typed it.  

 

Well, the last time he let his emotions run wild, he stormed the Nemesis solely to hunt and murder Megatron, which he followed up with fighting Megs, ramming him off a cliff, grinding his face and literally pummeling the crap out of him in a truly epic beatdown.

 

Oh, please no. I was happy when Movie Optimus was killed in ROTF.

 

Oh my yes. And I loved it. Too bad Megatron got a boost from the Dark Energon which also finally got to Optimus and weakened him.

I don't want Optimus to be "win every battle beatdown style". But every now and again I would like to see him go all RAAAWWWWWRRRRRRR while he fights for what he believes in and not have his butt handed to him.

 

im glad. hate optimus prime and he deserves it. glad to see cons for once at least getting a little glory.

I'm alright with it.

 

I don't mind him getting beat sometimes. (tree-to-face notwithstanding) It's that the show tries to portray him as essentially this infallible God and occasionally has him do ridiculus stunts that fly in the face of the times he's incapacitated.

 

Umm...why doesn't the time he was going to end Megatron in the one shall rise/fall season finale arc not count? Plus in his fight against Dreadwing, Prime came out on top last I checked... so yeah.

Anyways, he could do more, but it's fine. The Autbots are always at a disadvantage AND the cons have an endless supply of goons. With that, it's only sound that the named decepticons are actually able to cause some damage.

 

I like this Optimus he's not over-powered all the time aka a MARY-SUE!!!

I want to see him take on Soundwave. After giving it some thought, however, he will get his ass handed to him. Poor, non-victorious Optimus.  

 

This fandom sure can be picky. No matter WHAT hasbro does, there's always a group of folks complaining.

Optimus is an unstoppable opponent? "Wah, guyz hes making teh decepticnz look week an stuff!"

Optimus ISN'T an unstoppable opponent? "Wah, gaiz, he loozs al the tiem an stuff!"

First people complain about OP's godlike skills on the battlefield, as potrayed in the Bay films, then they bitch when he doesn't win every fight by default. Which is it? Because, if you ask me, this incarnation of optimus seems pretty balanced.

 

Yeah, it's almost as if the fandom isn't one entity. Oh wait

 

Well, "the fandom" sure likes to act like it's one entity when someone doesn't get what they want, and then proceed to say things like "why can't they do X? It's what the fans want!", "All the fans want Y!", and so on.
