My wife wants to get me a toy for Christmas. I have been looking at Blackarachnia for a bit and was wondering what others thought of her.

She's one of my favorite from the TM line. Great articulation in both modes, and very characterful overall.
Plus, purple bikini for the win!

She's hard to pose. She has small feet and high heels, and a lot of weight in her upper body. Plus her knees can be loose, at least they are on mine. You can get her to stand, but an action pose, especially if she's standing on one foot, will be difficult.

She does have pretty good range of motion. Her legs aren't obstructed by kibble. All in all, I think she's a good toy.

Also, the grapling hook thingy is finicky.

It's a fair toy, but nothing amazing by BW standards.

Freaking awesome spider mode. Seriously, one of my favorite beast modes of the Beast Wars line.

Robot mode... slightly less awesome. Weapon is dumb, incredibly hard to pose (seriously, she's WAAAY harder to pose than any version of Beast Machines Cheetor), kicking gimmick makes waist articulation difficult to get right, and lots of kibble.

Buuuuut... I'd say she's worth it, if only for the beast mode.

I don't have one so my opinion doesn't really count, but if you get one I'll be envious. She's one of the few figures I want to own eventually but the timing is always not right.
So how much is "worth it" price for her?

the aforementioned top heaviness and awkward waist/leg and the fear of chipping/flaking chromes was the reason i sold mine.

Its a transmetal, so you always kinda worry about the flaking issue. That said, I have had mine for 10+ years and no flaking yet. As others have said, she is kinda difficult to pose. Add in the fact that she is basically on stilletos :lol  The beast mode is awesome and, in general, it is a very nice looking toy and a nice display piece. The removable bra is an interesting feature and almost reason enough alone to own it :D  One in good condition is probably worth about $40 minimum :2c:

Great toy that can't stand worth a damn unless you finaggle her spider legs in robot mode. Beast mode is wicked. Like, it's fucking awesome.

    Don't waste money on her.

I got one last year as part of a haul. Her robot mode, while indeed articulated, is worthless to pose. Her legs are very thin and are comprised of joints you can't strengthen with glue or nail poilish. She has a spring loaded action figure on her right leg that connects to her floppy waist.

She has no side to side ankle articulation. And tiny heels as others have said.

So really, don't waste money on her, especially the 60-100 USD she goes for.

    Spidermode's great.

I haven't heard of any issues with chrome flakeage on the US version so as far as I know, it won't matter if you go Hasbro or Takara (though the Metals version will probably be more expensive, though that's usually a "duh" when it comes to these things).

As mentioned above, if you use the spider-legs in 'bot mode as an assist, you can usually keep her upright without too much trouble.

Very top-heavy thanks to where a bunch of the remaining spider parts go in 'bot mode.

    Pretty colors/deco.

An actual feminine appearance for Blackarachnia, unlike her original non-Transmetal toy.

Good toy as long as you don't expect too much from it or pay too much for it.
