Well according to that post he filed the face down to fit.
Well all I saw was the after pic. Couldn’t find the post where he said how he did it.
Started the Inferno Face mod on mine. Still have some sanding to do to make it fit snug around the brow but this face makes all the difference in the world on this figure!
At some point all the 3Ps will just start releasing their figures with no face but a port for an Inferno faceplate instead...
I didn’t want to damage Inferno’s face so I cut away Springer’s helmet to make room. I used a tiny chisel. A small piece of double sided tape is all that’s needed to hold the face in place. You can also still use the original face if needed.
Great advice!!!! Also value of inferno face far exceeding OP Not Springer? Hell yes.
Now we know what Springer looks like when he picks the wrong cup while looking for the Ark of the Covenant.
The 30+ year old twist ending is that Springer is actually Inferno in disguise after getting sick of being called 'The Guy That Looks Like Grapple' for the billionth time.
It's a shame that an alternate face for Big Spring is not available. I know you can customize MP Grapple's face but I don't want to short a set.
Man, you just mixed movies.
Yeah, if OP or some other company would make a decent face Big Spring would go from placeholder to my Springer. And I would stop looking at any of the other ones.
I finally got this guy and found that I really like him a lot. I had the DX9 version, but though it was too big and bulky. I think this might be the version I stick with unless the MMC one gets amazing reviews.
Finally got around to making a new face for Big Spring. Cheated using blutack for the eyes. Need to find me some grey/light grey filament but the test print in yellow doesn’t look bad.
And the grey/silver metallic looks even better. Now to get home and put it on the body.
That first pic is like a Transformers Horror movie... poor guy had his face dremelled away... lol
Looks like it has a bird's beak for a nose.
What does Springers head look like with Inferno's just tacked on there? Does it fit at all?
I'm still holding out for a better face with their new original release.
Oops. Forgot to round off those edges and adjust a face on the nose. Eh. Good enough for now until Monday. I’ll print the new version on Monday.
Springer isn't a character I feel a lot of connection to, and I'm not mad about his alt modes, so I had no intention of getting more than one MP representation. Which was going to be FT or XTB or something, so I never had any interest in this guy. But thanks to you guys saying so many good things about him (my parents warned me about peer pressure!), and the fact he's pretty cheap, I thought fuck it why not and finally bought one.
I have to say I can see what all the fuss is about. Sure he has a face only a mother could love, and you can feel that the materials are cheaper (definitely less heft than you'd expect for an MP) and the tolerances aren't perfect (quite a few connections that are functional but... mushy, and some parts are a tad on the loose side)... but despite all that... he's kind of awesome.
Only had him in robot mode so far, but face aside I'm surprisingly smitten by the guy. The little MP that could!
I feel like O&P has made a great first impression here, and maybe opened the door to the idea of a new niche: a cheaper MP scaled bot that's not quite as premium as the TT or 3Ps we're used to now, but really puts what budget it has to good use, makes smart design choices, and overall results in an appealing bot that's fun to play around with. So that in the end you don't really mind that it's a bit of a budget model, it's got it where it counts. Great bang to buck ratio on this one that's for sure.
I'm not so keen on their Galvatron since I already have Sovereign, but I look forward to their future projects. Although hopefully they get the hang of faces soon!
