Hey guys i just got my sdcc 2011 rodimus prime in the mail today.. but Im wondering if I should open it? It looks so awesome to play with and etc... But if i open it, it will loose its value in the future? what should I do? Thanks!
Stop worrying about the value and open the thing already. Did you get into the fandom to make money or enjoy the toys?
If you open it, it will instantly loose value as it will no longer be MISB. If you want to keep it that way but you still want to play with it, go out and buy the regular release.
it is the regular release, there isn't another one. open it up, mps barely lose value when they are opened, and for this one, i wouldn't buy a misb one, too many qc errors on it
Open it. If you paid retail for it it'll hold or go up in value regardless. If you overpaid for it it'll go down in value regardless. But keep in mind that's it's a MP so it's not really a play around type of toy.
That's debatable. It's gotten real muddy lately. He can be considered a TRU/SDCC exclusive since TRU was originally including him as part of their free SDCC shipping deal and originally sold him at SDCC.
By calling it "SDCC 2011" I assume OP probably bought it off Amazon. The listing title is: "Transformers Universe SDCC 2011 San Diego ComicCon Exclusive Deluxe Figure Masterpiece Rodimus Prime".
Like I said, OP is new according to his post count. No one around here calls it SDCC Rodimus, but rather TRU or Hasbro Rodimus, so I'm guess he's calling it that because of the listing title on amazon. The Amazon listing makes it sound more exclusive than it is hence his (non-existent) dilemma.
So far when it comes to TRU exclusives MPs(only 2 so far), they always had it's release debut SDCC from the Entertainment Earth booth. There's nothing special about it. They may be available for sale online first, but SDCC had them in hand first.
The original topic seems to be covered already: open it. So off topic. What qualifies an items to be considered a SDCC exclusive? 1) Item was sold only at SDCC. 2) Item was sold at SDCC and then "leftovers" we sold in stores. (i.e. SDCC Nemesis Prime, SDCC Soundwave) 3) Item was sold at SDCC first and then sold in in stores. (i.e. MP Grimlock and Hot Rod). How do we qualify "leftovers"? I believe a lot of Nemesis Primes were produced so the intent was that they go to HTS. We can't just call it Universe Nemmy because of the mammoth confusion. Is the difference in MP Grimlock and Hot Rod that they are being sold in brick and mortar stores? But by accounts SDCC Blaster made it to stores also. So is the difference the intent of where it is sold since SDCC Blaster only hit discounters. What about TRU SDCC Lion-O?
Open it. It's a toy. How can you enjoy it if you don't open it? The whole exclusive thing is way overrated. Play man, Play!!! -rain-
