Here's a link to how it was done
Does this figure have a box? What's this about a baggie? Also, why hasn't Sirtoys got this yet?
What paint did you use for his face?
I chose a generic gloss enamel white paint instead.
The Tamiya acrylic matte white didn't do the trick somehow and made the figure look a little lifeless.
No box... baggie that's why it's so cheap.
No instructions as well.
Looks soooo much better with paint, especially on the large areas of bland grey plastic. Nice work. And I think that painting the cannon is a good idea. I'm normally in favour of clear plastic for Galvatron's cannon but the glaring seamline and cheap-looking clear plastic means that putty and paint is the better choice in this case.
Is that official? I remember the Open and Play Springer had a box?
I’m still waiting for more photos of painted cannons before I get the nerve to try painting mine. Looks good, though.
It did. Big cannon comes in a bag.
Cheers! I just want to check as I usually nag Sirtoys for a box. Is the bag official, with stuff printed on it (Like a Botcon bag), or just some generic one?
"Unbag and Play" loses some zing, IMHO.
Yes, it is. I started to do a Google search, and then thought to check a few pages back in the thread:
You absolute star. Cheers. Incidentally, I thought about getting it from Amazon.co.jp, but some joker there is selling it for 90 dollars. Mind you, other fools are asking for over 300 dollars for OSKO Evasion Prime...
Sorely tempted to pick this up for my lad. No really. Gotta say I thought BSF was a bit harsh in his review. Sure it steals some design elements but in an industry that's filled with thievery I'm not too bothered.
If Open & Play can turn out stuff like this at that price fair play to them. No box? No problem. Solves the "store it or bin it" dilemma. No diecast? So what? I've lost count of the times I've seen a figure suffer from the weight it puts on joints, or chipped paint on it.
Sure this doesn't look as good as Sovereign (in 'bot mode at least) but arguably nor does it look $150 worse...
It is really tempting to follow suit. I would love to see a photo gallery of this for inspiration.
Well, now I also have Tyrant to compare with and... Big Cannon is still awesome. I already liked the brawler body type of the original TR mold and it looks even better larger.
Plus, after having to transform Tyrant both ways... There has to be something said about ease of transformation and the fun factor. Big Cannon is a joy to transform, simple as that. I can transform him leisurely while doing something else to keep my hands and subconscious occupied.
Might paint the face at some point, since it can be detached from the eyes, even my bumbling self should have no problems with it. :B
I'm really impressed with this guy. Fun to play with, easy to pose and transform. I bought him as a desk toy for my wife, who loved it. So I get to have Tyrant, and she gets to have Big Cannon and everyone's happy.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for what these guys do next.
Has anyone opened up his knees to make that little switch easier to move?
If so was it an easy job? I keep having to use a little tool to move the switch on mine
Just give it a go... be sure to use acrylics as its easier to work with when painting by hand.
Makes a difference.
I generally depress the tab before moving it... haven't had an issue.
