Dynamite wasn’t all too impressive, especially for a show in Brodie’s honor, but I think expectations wound up being too high.

We’re expecting Bray (or more) debuts. Bryan to test through the roster to get a record and chase Omega. But it’s all just kind of falling flat.

Nobody debuted. Nobody in the DA really got back together or broke up. More so so stuff there dragging out the result (feels like WWE there). Danielson gets a Casino Ladder match, next week, to help him skip the line right to Omega. If we’re looking at records, Punk and Cole should be closer to a title shot than Danielson

 

To me this was a decent episode of Dynamite, not every episode is going to have a huge premiere or shocking moments. After every PPV for AEW they essentially start a " New Season" so they have to start world building again. A couple of nice tributes to Brodie Lee done tastefully in my opinion. Allowing some of these storylines to start to breath a bit. Plus we got a new TNT Champ out of it. And also some intriguing new angles starting up. A Darby vs MJF feud.....sign me up all day for that. Arn Anderson turning on Cody, hopefully leading to the necessary Cody heel turn is interesting to me. They have a lot of things they have started working towards that they can either resolve or continue by the next PPV. Long term booking can work if done well AEW has proven that they can do that for the most part. It also helps to build stories when you're not shoveling out a PPV every month. Was this episode perfect....nope. But no episode rarely is, to me that women's tag match was a bit sloppy and disjointed but still fun. And that's what has been missing in Wrestling for a very long time...…fun. It doesn't have to be perfect, just entertain me for a few hours.

What a stupid and pointless draft.

 

Still love how everyone in AEW (ESPECIALLY Dark Order) has gone out of their way to become a second family to Brodie Jr. it’s been so wholesome how they’ve shown love and caring to him and his family including Brodie’s wife and now we have that new nonprofit organization in his name.

 

The stuff with Negative 1 and the Dark Order + the various efforts to memorialize Brodie (the tribute show after his death and the return to his hometown) have been really heartwarming.

But AEW needs to be careful too. There will come a point where it will start to feel exploitative, like how WWE handled Eddie Guerrerro's death. Having a second tribute show in less than a year made sense, because of the importance to Brodie of that Rochester, NY show, but it was also too soon. The good outweighed the bad, this time, but there'll be a point where it feels like it's too far. They've done good with Negative 1. Using him mainly on Dark and going long stretches without him being there weekly - but still using him on and off. A good balance.

I worry about the kid too. There's a huge outpouring of love to his family and the Dark Order guys are still there... but that faction will split someday, like all factions do. Performers that can get offers elsewhere, like Preston Vance, John Silver, Anna Jay, Tay Conti, etc... might wind up going to try and make it as a singles star at a place like WWE. Silver would probably make a small fortune there as a muscular, athletic, comedy guy. You know he'd be one of Vince's heavily promoted favorites for a couple years. Back to my point, that support net for Negative 1/Brodie Jr is going to fade. I just hope it's gradual and that he's emotionally ready for the day people just don't care, as much. Happens with all celebrity and athlete deaths. The fans stop talking about them. The memorials eventually become in-name only.

Brian Pillman Jr. probably knows a thing or two about that disappearing support system / as he got older.

 

I just read Nikki Bella landed a role as a judge on America’s Got Talent: Extreme.

In other news, the irony of this announcement is threatening to crush the state of California.

 

One thing i hate that seems to happening a lot in WWE and AEW is outside interference. Both heel and face. You can almost predict who is going to win if the wrestler has somebody come with them. Even if they come from the back during the middle of the match.

 

On AEW, who is that guy that is with Jade?
