I really hate to say this because I know Ric O'Shay is an internet darling and super-talented in the ring...
But WWE has pushed him hard for a while now, and from what I've been able to hear on TV, he still just gets lukewarm reactions from the crowd. Sure, he gets pops for his high spots, but other than that, he's just "that guy that does flippy-dippy stuff".

WWE tried for a while to see if he could be a break out sensation, but it hasn't happened. Time to try someone else. I've heard about these young up-and-comers Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, and Undertaker, maybe they can carry the company through the next 2 decades.
Oh wait...

But seriously, I wonder if Alistair Black is the best candidate for the next big push. He has the look and the talent, he just needs a good storyline to thrust him into the title picture.

 

At least Tomaso Ciampa validated his "will retire in NXT".
People like him and Gargano. Small but talented will not fit Vince's "superstar template".

Now you gotta think about Undisputed Era's leader if he makes it to the main roster.

That reminds me.. WWE sticked with Eddie Guerrero as their champ regardless of TV Ratings.
Eddie wants to drop the title coz he felt he's the reason ratings aren't up but creative sticked with him at least.

It seems Vince is impatient looking and perhaps "sticking" for his "chosen one".
Last one was Seth Rollins. He had good run but it went dry along the way.
It seems Seth's run was tainted by partly whatever he's lacking and being paired with Corbin in a feud.

yeah Ive been keeping up with matts youtube over the past several months leading to his wwe contract ending.

at this point if he is anything else besides the exalted one in aew I would be surprised.

 

I heard somewhere that the Dark Order's Exhausted One could be Raven. Which I'm all for if AEW couldn't get Matt Hardy.

I wonder who else will enter the NXT Women’s Leader Match Contention......I know Chelsea Green qualified, so that leaves Candice LaRae, Io Shiraz, Toni Storm (yes, I know she’s UK, but she’s already appeared in the US a couple times), Vanessa Borne, Bianca Bel Air (who I think may be moving up soon anyway), Marina Shafir, Scarlet Bordeaux (a recent signing who only had a cameo as late), Mia Yim, Aliyah, Dakota Kai, Teagan Nox.........I miss anyone?

They had Raven in the crowd as a brawl spilled out that way. AEW even highlighted it on twitter. Theyve tried to throw us off o the Dark Order by having Raven, by Jake referring to the "Dark Side," by the announcers saying it could just be Evil Uno pretending there's a higher power, all the Christopher Daniel's teases, going back to his almost run as the Ministry's higher power.

But the most obvious hints, repeatedly, have been for Hardy. Even his YouTube video series has him dealing with am evil and corrupting spirit that's fucking with his "Broken Brilliance" - leftover from when he cleansed Wyatt in his Lake of Reincarnation.

I'm hoping they made it obvious FOR the swerve, but, at the same time, it makes the most sense for Matt, if he's doing a Broken-ish character.

 

I know this won't happen/impossible as he's still under contract to the WWE but can you imagine the CRAZY ASS POP if it was revealed Bray Wyatt was the Dark Order's Exhausted One.!? Guess one can imagine lol. Looking forward to seeing who it is. Part of me thinks Jake would've been an excellent candidate even though his current story line is pretty good!

 

I honestly just hope the contract was finalized early last week for matt and they took an extra week to be smart about it and have some tshirts designed and preorders ready to drop on their store when he makes his debut this week or next week.

cause you know aew broken hardy merch is going to blow up the first few months hes there and might as well be ready to profit.

 

The reason was already reported. Matt had a convention spot scheduled for this weekend and that convention had several WWE wrestlers booked. I even think they had Taker booked.

Wwe has a rule now that they wont send or approve a WWE wrestler to appear at an event where AEW performers are appearing.

Matt would have had to back out of a promised and scheduled appearance to debut in AEW or the con would have to choose between Hardy and like 5 other ppl, including Taker.

If Matt debuts this week, no issue
